I went school there. I donts see whats wrong with that. Its just a big empty building. Most the people that live on that side of town would move out of there delapatated house to live there

It's about 1/4 mile from the elementary school. To me, that is a problem. They are wanting to buy a big 4x4 van to bus them out when we have snow. It's ridiculous.:shaking:

You really don’t know what is going on then.

The homeless would be put up in modular buildings that would be put on the site. They would be bused in from other areas of the county.
If Pollock Pines has a homeless problem, we need to address that. But to bus people from other parts of the county does not make sense. Having a homeless shelter above the snowline does not make sense. Having it so close to a school does not make sense.

I agree, totally stupid.

They might as well have put a homeless shelter in Folsom the damn light rail shuttles them in from Sacramento now :shaking: They don't stay in one area they wonder all over, the nice picnic area you take your family along the lake all full of homeless people.

It's in my neighborhood for one...

two, there is no job training or opportunities here...

three, it's within 2 blocks of the school....

what happens to them in the winter time?

I have this vision of them, leaving the shelter at 8am and creeping through our streets. 8am is the time they would be allowed to leave in the morning.....oh yeah, the elementary kids are walking to school between 8:30-9am.

Now, I have nothing against the homeless..but Pollock has enough problems with predators and druggies. We don't need a homeless shelter too:(.

mitchell_01...I invite you to come and listen to what they have to say.

in case you haven't realized, we get all the homeless people coming up to pollock anyways. what's the difference if the shelter is in camino or pollock? get a heart, and have some respect for these people! considering most of them are veterans, they fought for our lives, you can sacrifice a little bit to give them a place to stay. if they didn't have the shelter, they'd be out on the streets. now think about it, where would you rather them be? just because people are homeless does not mean they are bad people. and considering pinewood school is an elementary school, i dont think children that young would be walking to school by themselves anyways. so grow up and have a little respect!

If Pollock Pines has a homeless problem, we need to address that and take care of that. But if El Dorado county have a homeless problem, busing them to Pollock Pines is not a good answer. what are they to do in the winter? we are above the snowline, that alone makes this a bad choice.

Don’t make accusations about people you do not know.

just because people are homeless does not mean they are bad people.

nobody has said they are bad people, nobody has said Pollock Pines should send their homeless people away....you are missing the issue here

considering pinewood school is an elementary school, i dont think children that young would be walking to school by themselves anyways.

why not? the school is right in the residential area, very close to homes. there is no reason some kids should and do walk to school

so grow up and have a little respect!

I did grow up, and I have respect for those that deserve it. a comment like this only shows that you have not grown up yourself.

i agree with most of you. if we have a homeless problem that is one thing. busing them here is something else that i am not ready for. there is no work here and i honestly don't see any opportunities for homeless in this area. from what i have heard (i don't have kids so i don't know for sure) the old school is one of the main bus stops for the kids in this area. that definatly doesn't sound like a good location to me.

not to be heartless but i do not want a homeless shelter two blocks from my house. i moved up here to get away from city issues such as that.

My son was there last year..and he did walk back and forth to school.

Robert, you are correct...the bus stop is right there (pick up and drop off). My friends daughter gets the bus there, she is really upset over this. Her house is almost directly across the street from the site.

I think placing a homeless shelter in P. Pines is a waste of our County's limited funds. The best place to put one is down near El Dorado Hills (lotus side) or in P'ville. Both of those locations offer options for social services, Public transportation, and also means that some of the homeless don't have to deal with the cold winter days. just my .02.

I saw this website ad in the hair salon yesterday......http://www.ilovepollockpines.com/html/main/front/index.html

There is a thread in the neighborhood discussion part in regards to the shelter. Once this site gets going, I'm sure it will be interesting:shaking:. Its a brand new site.

I just recently moved back up to Pollock Pines from El Dorado Hills and I'm very concerned about this situation. I will be attending the meeting at the community center along with some friends of mine who live near me to see what happens there and voice my opinion. I will be wearing a tan colored Chevy Trucks hat so if anyone on here who will be at that meeting wants to meet me, look for me and I'd be glad to meet you and chat with you for a while.
