ok well ive been offered a job to swap over a 3" suspension lift kit from the 71 burb to the 89,
are the suspensions the same? or did they change a bit during those years
the other question i have is the rear brakes need to be re-done, and he wants me to do that at the same time.
if this were you in my situation how much would you charge to swap over the lift kit, and do the brakes? i was thinking about 200$ for the lift kit swap over
and then about 70 for the rear brakes.
because i have no idea what to charge because ive never taken anything to a shop before, ive just done it all myself and this is a first time thing to get some extra cash flow

a shop would charge way more that. theyd probably charge 200 just for the rear brakes.
it depends on if its a friend or not. theres factors here. are both trucks a pile of crap? everytime i deal with these trucks the bolts in the springs wont come out. so look at worse case scenario. every single bolt breaking off in the springs (which usually happens) and your also going to need new ubolts (unless you just leave the springs attached) cause reusing them things aint exactly safe. so theres another 40$ down the drain if you have a spring shop even near you.
doing this crap in you driveway with all the bolts breaking and having to cut them and get new ones your looking at probably about 12+ hours of work. i remember it taking me about 8 for the back and 4 for the front using crappy hand tools.
if you have a lift, air tools, torch, and everything goes right and reuse all the hardware, can probably do this swap in like 2-3 hours if you hussle

what?? you are doing a suspension lift on a 2wd truck? why??
yes the springs WILL work. the ifs stuff is identicle from 64/5 till 91. remind him that he will need to get the front re alligned.
all in all its a very easy job, you will probably take the wheels off but its not neccessary. one b/j and the shock on each side.
personaly i would make him do it himself.

were doing it on a 2wd truck because the stock stuff is really old and all shot, so its sagging like a mother, and he wants to be able to haul some heavy stuff.
he was going to do it himself but he dosent know ANYTHING about vehicles, and i need a bit of cash to fix my DD
