ok folks, before we start, yes i searched, but i want some conformation :flipoff2:

my brakes are dragging in the truck, i have feel/diagnosed all 4 are holding. so obviously its master/booster related.

i have excellent vacuum in the engine, so its not like the booster isnt getting enough.

my (assumed) problem is that the booster is not returning enough. maybe its worn out/ dragging internally. when i hit the brakes, the pedal stays down slightly, untill i give it a little gas, then the pedal returns and mostly lets go of the brakes. so im going to install a booster, i havent replaced it ever and its only 80 bucks.

i have attempted to turn the rod between the master and booster down a little thinking it would help, all it did was lower my pedal engagement.

now i just have a stock replacement master, but the rear has disc brakes, so i want to install a master that would compliment them. the master on there currently has the little resivour for the drum brakes and i have to fuck with it keeping it filled etc.etc.

so i need a master that will go onto the factory booster. i saw a lincoln versai had rear 9 discs, would that master work? or what master would you reccomend?

BTW, the factory prop. valve is removed, all new lines have been previously run to all 4 brakes, and a aftermarket adjustable rear prop. valve is installed for the rear.

The master off of the lincoln would work depending on how big of calliper you used on the rear brakes. If you want really good brakes you should use the whole setup off of a lincoln with the power assist booster and master.

.... i dunno.

im using stock ford 1/2 ton calipers in the front and 1/2 ton chevy calipers in the rear, and REALLY had to regulate them down, as i can lock them up at a whim.

im very VERY happy with my braking system setup right now, locking up 38.5 boggers all the way around is a difficult tast IMO without hydroboost. its a street truck and i dont want to comprimise for braking systems.

is the lincoln booster going to bolt onto my firewall?
really i would think the booster on the ford is going to be a "stronger" unit than the lincoln, since its a truck vs. car

Mew booster?

Where's the kitty cat? How will you mount it....Kitty or doggie style?

:flipoff2:

E350 booster/master works awesome. I'm running Ford D60's with Ford brakes on my YJ. I can lock up 38.5 SX's with ease........ tons less plumbing

If your real happy with it now, and you can lock up all 4 by adjusting the prop valve way down in the back, why not just go back with what you have?

i AM happy with it, BUT i want to have a master that is actually designed for rear discs. if i have to ill just replace the booster, but just looking to make them better.

im not dropping $$$$ for a master cylinder on a $$ truck. maybe on my landcruiser but not on this truck.

1986 E350

I'm just now seeing your want for an OEM rear disk master, the E350 does not meet your request.

 so will the 86 E350 work or no then?

All I'm saying is it sounds like you already have everything you could ask for now. By putting in the adjustable prop, I think you took care of the drum to disc issue yourself. Why mess with success, unless you think that the mc might have led to the demise of your booster. For that matter, if the mc is still good, why even change it? It's just more work and money for what gain? I'm not trying to give you a hard time. I'm just pointing out that it doesn't sound like the mc is an issue at the moment.

86 ish mustang SVO MC is 1-1/8 bore, was designed for 4W disk and is usually alum (it will bolt to the stock booster, but may not work with your calipers, may be too large in bore). I paired that with an a 93 F350 booster, which kicks ass over any 70's booster made.

Had to make custom brackets to bolt to firewall.

We've been through this a few times in the Jeep section, but since we're talking about Ford axles and Ford brakes, this thread seems to be well suited to your needs. We're discussing the E350 master in the thread... http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=239758&highlight=E350

unfortunately that DOESNT help, because the OP was showing the MC with rear drums. i have discs all the way around, thus im still not defeating the small resivour for the rear discs issue i want to solve when i redo the master/booster.

FWIW, Frankly, I think it's irrelivant in this case. I do understand your 'wants' but that E350 unit works great with disk/disk in my YJ. I'm running the OEM huge dual piston D60 Ford fronts, and GM K20 disk in the rear. My junk stops better now, than it did when it was new in '93 as a stocker.

Just my $.02 worth. Good luck in ur search.

My "wants"

a master cylinder that will bolt up to the factory booster that has equal resivours for front and rear. simple enough?
