sorry for yelling guys, im just frustrated. I've spent about an hour now trying to take off the top shifter assembly off the case of my sm465... ive tried in diff. gears, or in neutral... but somewhere the shift rails are getting caught up on the mainshaft or the like.... ANY IDEAS... id appreciate it as I want to keep working tonight
thanks in advance! <IMG SRC="smilies/usa.gif" border="0">

I think it has to be in reverse.

Put it 1/2 way into reverse, do the same thing going back together, or you'll go nuts. btdt

thanks guys! worked like a charm... now, any tips for removing the main and counter shafts?... Im putting in a new 4wd mainshaft (other is 2wd) and i also plan to put a "third gear fix" stationary ring on the countershaft between the bottom and 3rd gears so it'll never pop out of 3rd gear under heavy accel...
thanks in advance <IMG SRC="smilies/beer.gif" border="0">

You need to pull the brgs. off the countershaft, and drop it down in the case to get the clutch gear out the front of the case ( it has a flat spot on the gear that allows it to miss the counter gear )
If it's not jumping out of gear, I was told not to F with it, it gets kinda expensive to fix. Mine has never jumped out and I beat it pretty hard.
