Rancho just stopped taking orders from wholesale customers on ALL 9000 series shocks, as they are being replaced with the new 9000X 9 way adjustable shock. It has a heavier duty body & shaft, but is still a hydraulic shock. No word on whether the shock will be backward compatible with the 9700 remote controller in case someone already has one. The metering system wouldnt match up, thats for sure! Just an FYI.

Do we know if the adjustement range is different or just 4 more positions on the dial? I am thinking of getting a set to help stiffen up my floppy zuk.

Not 100% positive, but word is they wanted to have enough adjustments to compete with the new MX series Pro Comp shock. Theres still the difference of the PC MX is a gas charged & Rancho is remaining a Hydraulic shock. 1 & 9 will "likely" be the same, but more inbetween adjustments available.

sounds like it may have been created in the marketing dept rather than the engineering dept....
I guess well have to wait and see though...

I agree. I can't see the use in having a broader range of adjustment than the current 9000's have. They go from almost no dampening effect to kidney-busting stiff.
My main concern is for the in-cab remote adjustment kit to be forwards compatible with the new 9000x (or whatever its name will be) in the event that one of my 9000's goes bad and needs replacement. If I can't get a 9000 to replace it, I sure hope that I can at least buy a full set of the new shocks and still be able to use my remote kit.

According to Rancho's website, it looks like the new 9000's will be compatible with the in-cab remote controls. Check out this page for Rancho's information on the new shocks:
www.gorancho.com/Flash_RS9000X.stm
It looks like the new in-cab remote comes with new bezels that have 9 increments instead of 5 with the older kit. But since the remote kit allows infinite adjustment within its complete adjustability range, the numbers are more for reference than anything else.

it also says "Cellular Gas" with VFC variable force control for precise flow metering! Guess it's not hyraulic then?

Check out the flash crap on their web page! The Dial goes 1 - 3 - 5 - 7 - 9! It's the same shock, just changed the numbers on the dial!
They better not try to charge more for it or I'll be :mad2: .....

CELLULAR GAS means it has a foam liner inside that takes up space so it doesnt aeriate when hot, and the gas is low pressure, about 20 psi, just like all the other shocks, not enough to expand it on its own. The PC is gas charged, about 140-160 psi, and have those nylon straps to keep it compressed in the box.

Anywhere I can get more info on the ProComp MX's? There was nothing on their website about them. I need shock soon and was going for the RS9000x but would like to check out the PC's.

I just got an email back from a representative of Rancho about the new 9000x's. Here's what he/she had to say about them:
Dear Geoff,
Thank you for your interest in Rancho products. The actual range from softest to firmest is close between the older and newer design shocks, the main feature of the 9 position knob is to allow finer tuning if you're using the manual adjusters. Either shock will function the same with the remote kit (and have infinite adjustibility within the range). We did update the appearance of the RS9700 remote kit (new gauges, etc.) but the function is the same and the new shocks are compatable with the older remote kit.
