: engine swap question

hey fellas, i have a 97 taco and i want to use a a stock toyota turbocharged inline 6 from an older supra. the engine is a 1jz twin turbo. any idea what kind of trans i should run? are there any engine/trans adapters for this engine?

google "1JZ swap". It's been done before, there are a few good writeups on other sites.

They bolt up to an R-series trans IIRC, but if you're asking these questions without any research, I doubt you'll know where to look for that either.

well, from what i have seen, people use a 1jz engine 2jz bellhousing and a 22r 4x4 trans..... can anyone confirm this? i dont want to buy tha 1jz and 2jz bellhousing if this wont work.

my uncle has a whole chickenhouse full of toyota parts from interior to tha tires so tha truck parts arent hard for me to get. the supra parts are

Just a FYI, if you fret over buyin a part you dont need on accident, you are far from doing a engine swap. Dont even consider it.


But to help---look at any 2JZ equipped Lexus/Toyota. What tranny are they mated to?

What tranny's do the trucks with 4cyls and 6 cyls use? They are different.

That will answer your question after a little research.

Check out a 7gme swap, that might find you the info you seek too, I do believe it is the r series trans too!! If you cant find that info and are escared dont try it!! or be prepared to spend a lot of $$ to have someone bail you out!
