as some of you know, i will be doing a 350/350 conversion...i NEED TO KNOW FOR SURE if i have to swap output shafts. (i got the long one) If all it needs is a chop, i can do that, but i would like to know if the spline counts are different and about how many banannas is changing an output shaft in a TH-350 trans.
thanks

shafts are different in length, but you already knew that. you can not cut a 2wd shaft to the 4wd length!:(

jesus, that was a quick-assed reply!! :D
is there a reason i cant, because isnt the 4wd shaft just a shortened version of the 2wd shaft??
Yes, the shaft is shorter, but the splines aren't long enough to cut off.
AA makes the adapters in either a short or long shaft version (now, not when I did mine 15 years ago).
I had a no name adapter that used long shaft that was junk, bought AA and had to change out the rear shaft. Only took about 40 mins of time on the bench, but I had all the tools to do it. Not what I would concider a DIY job.

nope, they're larger than the smooth section of the shaft, besides, that's a lot of trouble to go through when you can get a good used 4wd shaft for around $20.;)

You better know what you are doing if you plan on swapping shafts!
