How about some pics, so we can see what you've got. It would be easier to offer suggestions.

I thought all the fiberglass tops were removable? And be removable, I mean temporarily, as in without a saw... :D

Regardless of whether or not you get a soft top made up for it, I'd set it up so you can re-mount the hard top. Much nicer to drive with in the winter, given your location.

There are people that would KILL for a fiberglass hardtop, especially here in the northwest! If you did a stretch, I would take it to a boat repair shop, or someone good with fiberglass and get it extended.

Here's what I did with mine. I had a local interior shop attach a safari top to the cage with twist on fasteners (didn't like the snaps). I suppose I could have made it a full top, but it was a fair weather machine for me. They charged me $350 for the whole job.

not a real long wheelbase but here is a similar example

I made it myself. pretty easy. I just picked up marine quality canvas black material and for the front mount it's just stock. I cut out the vinyl 3/16" rope that locks into the winshield and placed it on the fabric and just sewed the vinyl rope in. On the back I just went to OSH and picked up some vinyl luggage straps as they call it. and sewed those in on the back of the cloth like a quad sew for strength. On the B pillar are just rivet snap buttons one on each side. It just happen to go smooth and no problems and I really loved it.
