How does the CJ fuse panel get it’s power?

In the wiring diagram there are two wires that look as if power is taken off of them. One that is connected to the battery (at starter relay) and the other that is connected to the alternator. I am in a engine swap and can not hook up the second wire (attached to the alternator) to the new alternator. Must I run this wire? It seems to have one main splice into the back of the fuse panel then go to the voltmeter gauge.

you don't need that wire, if its the skinny one with an inline resistor. If its the fat one then its not the voltmemter, its an ammeter in there

So All I need is the red wire hooked to the starter replay to power everything, correct?
