I just got a set of these today:

Pretty damn cool, the little red switch changes from internal to external, and they came with 5 different tips. They seem well made, but I can't say how long they will last. So far a good buy at ~$20.

I bought a set of those from sears, marketed as their "pro" line, they are the single most useless snap ring pliers I have ever used. The damn in/out switch hangs up after a while, and they don't like to do anything, add to that that the needles don't come close enough together, they weren't worth a bent dick.

Sorry to burst your bubble :)

they look the exact same as the pair of Crapsman snap-ring pliers I bought 5-6 years ago :flipoff2:

they worked great, untill they slipped the first time. Not really a big fan of them, but for as little as I use them, they work ok

I always wondered about those. I just use the dedicated internal/external pliers with the removable tips. Didn't want to spend the $20 :shaking:

Really? I've never seen re-branded Channellock, but it could happen. Most of their pliers are pretty tough and well thought out. Time will tell...

I've got the Napa version of those. Similiar design but the types and "switch" mechanism is different. I have no problem getting my tips close enough to touch. Granted I don't really used them that much mainly just on the occassional coilover, but they have never given me trouble.

I've had a set for several years now. No issues.

Keeping them clean is key to their longevity. Once they get funky, they'll act pretty poorly.
