How's that old pig on the highway? I really wanted to go that route but wasn't sure about the long haul capabilities of old iron.

So Far it is doing Ok. We went 150 miles away and back up to about 10,000 miles and it did Ok for a 42 year old truck. No problems, it just bogged down a bit on the bigger hills. Other than that it'll do 65-70 MPH on the flat and smaller hills. Not sure how it is on gas mileage yet but it wasn't too bad. We made it on a tank and back on another but it only has like a 15 gallon tank or so. IT worked and it only cost us $1350. It has a hydraulic dump bed to so we can minimize the angle of the ramps. Oh and it makes a good tent. Thats me sleeping between the two trucks! Not enough head room but it keeps the rain out when you are too lazy to set up a tent.

WOW!! A friend pulled my 4Runner and all our shit to Moab with his stock Tacoma V6, and it was riding really low in the rear. Did good, minus the engine spinning a few rod bearings...no biggy <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">

It'd be super sweet to get an old truck like that and swap in a 502 crate motor. You could make one hell of tow rig for a lot less then buying a new one. That's what I want to do excpet with a one-ton dually.

I had a 53 Chevy one ton dually that I was going to do the 502 thing with. City says you can only have one project vehicle at a time. Was still payin off the finance company one one so I had to ditch the 53.

I'm toyotabajaracer's brother and it tow great, VERY SOLID. As far as the extreme cooler <IMG SRC="smilies/smokin.gif" border="0"> Riiggght! try a 20 yr. old pos. althought the ice stayed ice for 2 days. We are also considering the big block <IMG SRC="smilies/blush2.gif" border="0">

I saw your truck in the for sale section...it would be perfect but I'd have to quit school and use my tuition money to buy it. That'd be alright with me but the parents wouldn't be pleased.
