Have been running it about 12years. Got tried of breaking my stock dana 60,16 spline ford thing. It broke about 6" in from where it bolts to drum. Got real good at replacing axles in 60 (about 10),(it had detroit also) was kinda shocked it took locker with it.(never happened with 60) It sounded like a gunshot when it broke.

if it's lasted through 12years of abuse you can't complain.

Second gear,Lo-range,hammer down. Got about halfway up about a 200ft,hillclimb. Axle broke ,truck stopped and I grabbed reverse like I always do,front end only worked and I was sideways on hill. Winched it straight, then to bottom. Pulled out broken axle, cleaned out pieces, put cap on,drive out on the other side. Truck wouldnt move, oops took the locker with it.Drove out on front with detroit, what a ride. (WHAT A DAY)

I was getting the 16 spline axles for $12 each at pick a part. Same lenghth on both sides, eazy to fix, carry spares,it was my fuse. When I went to get rid of 60,the right bearing cap was in two pieces. FF 14 Bolt is the way to go. Now I get to hear, CHEVY parts to make the FORD TOUGH.

Shoot, you can break anything if you're tryin hard enough. I know at least one of the snipers busted a rockwell axle.

I know what you mean about front wheel drive with a detroit too. I drove from Moab to Denver in front wheel drive, with a detroit, pulling my trailer behind the jeep, with no swaybar.

Dave you get all the luck, don't you?
Didn't you just break the front 60 R&P a couple months ago?

Sucks about the Detroit. The two things said to be indestructable in a light truck, and you broke em both at the same time

With that stump pulling machine you have, I'm surprised you didn't break it earlier. How's Azuza these days? I haven't been there in awhile.

The guy broke the rockwell because it was a crappy joint, the axle shaft didnt break, but the joint took it out. Theres 2 different style joints, one shitty one good
