Bought some v28 Lithium Ion tools (2 impacts, 1 recip, 1 band saw) for the guys at work. They seem to like them so far (and they can be less than happy with change). I took the band saw home last night and made a few cut with it. I thought it works pretty damn good.

I would say that if you have the coin to blow then they are worth it.

How much did you pay for 'em?

More than we needed to. But we are a large company buying through a contract vendor so they weren't near as cheap as if you hunted on the internet.

That being said, I think it was ~$1800. All were the kits with charger and 2 batteries.

I have them too, minus the porta-band and I LOVE THEM. They have pretty much full power tell the end then they just die which is awesome. Fast charging too.

I've always been very please with Milwaukee tools... just haven't had to pull the trigger on any cordless ones lately.

Not that I'm in the market, but how much heavier are they than corded models?

I don't know the exact weight but nothing I notice or complain about that's for sure. I also don't use them for a long period of time... cut tube off a cage, in the backyard, cut a bush, etc.

The impact is INSANELY HEAVY though. It's probably 4x as heavy as an IR Titanium 1/2". But you rarely carry an impact or hold it in place more than a few seconds...

I have the hammer drill, impact and recip. They have been great for over a year of use.

The impact is heavy but it is nice to be able to change a tire that fast on the side of the road.

They have also become a favorite of theives since they can jerk the wheels off a car in record time. :homer:

I've been using a bunch of V28 tools for the past two years (1/2" drill, impact, sawzall, porta-band & circular saw) and have been really happy with all of them. I was using the 1/2" drill to power my JMR hole-saw notcher for a while and I finally smoked it (just to see how much abuse it could take). Milwaukee repaired it and told me that they made some changes to the drills that should make them hold up a little better. I got a corded 1/2" Milwaukee drill and just use the cordless drill for lighter-duty drilling now though. Only other thing ot mention is that I have 4-5 batteries, and just within the last month, two of them have gone bad. Two years seems like a pretty good lifespan to me, but they're expensive to replace.

If you are using the tools every day and get 2 years out of 'em that is pretty good these days. I know guys that are ruining batteries inside 6 months with daily use.

The Milwaukee lithium ion V28 & V18 batteries are covered for 5 years or 2000 charges

Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation recently announced a new limited warranty for all of its V™ Technology Lithium-Ion batteries, extending coverage for up to 2,000 charge cycles or five (5) years from the date of purchase/first charge.

Thanks, I hadn't looked into any type of warrantee, but it's really cool that Millwaukee stands behind their tools like that. My tools aren't getting used every day; just around my home-based shop/garage on my own projects.

I use my V28's to rough wire new houses and additions. They will run a 1" auger bit through any amount of wood I have come across. The right angle V28 is what I use the most. I love not having to drag 100' cords from the temp service and through the whole house.
