:p

I thought Saginaw conversions were supposed to leave you with a significant 'drop' in the relay rod and angle forward. Mine ended up with neither!

There is about 1" of drop in the relay rod from the upper to lower end, which equates to ZERO bump steer. That in and of itself is AMAZING on a truck with 5" of lift. And the tie rod end sits a mere 2.75" forward of the main steering rod.:)

How did this happen?

1.Saginaw box was moved 3/4" further into the frame than standard conversions using the plate that is pdf-ed all over the net.

2. Knuckle arms were bent up 1.5" by W at Over the Hill 4x4. This not only decreased the angle of the relay rod significantly, but moved the main rod closer to the pitman arm. This is NOT a straightforward procedure, and I will be doing a separate write up on this.

3. Pitman arm is 2.5" drop with 5.5" center to center.

All in all, I think it turned out a first-class conversion [props to dhondagod for helping me get this done in one weekend]. And you can check it out in person at CM08.

Well, you can either get a double knuckle arm, of a flat steering arm to fix the problem...........either or...........

you hippie. Most people do not use that super drop pitman arm like you did. That alone relieves like 3" of angle in the drag link. The other factor is that usually a saginaw is found with a SOA rig in which case the bottom end of drag link is attached to a modified steering arm on the pass side which tends to level out the drag link. Looks nice, what box was used ?

The steering box is a generic Saginaw passenger car unit with the 4.25 turns lock to lock. Very nice. I did not even know this box existed until I came to Pirate! Imagine that....I actually learned something useful here!:p

Where did the pitman arm come from?

That's the plan. Two parts. First on the hi-steer, then the PS. Too busy rushing around for Moab right now. Maybe when I get back.
