I was told that the samurai front and dana 44 front axles have the best turning cycle . which one turns better ?

DANA 44

It'll beat any close knuckle!

To say that a full-width Dana'd Samurai will turn a tighter raduis than a stock-axled Sammi is probably incorrect.

However:
IF all things are equal (I.E. axle width, tires, rims, correct steering geometry, Etc.) then the Dana will turn in a tighter circle.

I second this!

Also assuming you don't do what most D44-swapper-inners do, and stretch the wheelbase.

It can also depend on the wheel backspacing you use as well as your steering linkage.

Wider backspacing is good as it gets tires off springs, increases vehicle stability, reduces stress on steering components, but also diminishes turning radius.

As well, some steering systems, such as the Sidekick power steering, decrease the turning radius. you can compensate for that though by using an idler arm steering link.

sitting here hanging out with roksamy.

The direct technical question is....

If steering straight, and angle is 0 degree's, which axle will provide further steering inclination (in degree's) or steering movement. Just curious this revolves around a conversation with Tim Hardy in agreement that a dana 44 was the only equivelent or suppassing axle in steering inclination (in degree's) and strength increase......

Any thoughts?

If you are talking about Dychem(sp?) it is a chemical that machinists use to see scribed lines easier and to find high/low spots on a surface. It comes in red or blue that can be put on like any paint.:flipoff2: :p :flipoff2:

Ok, guys if it has to be proven..... Everyone go home tonight, make a circle in the street and post it.

Axle type -
Turning Circle (in feet, none of this metric crap :flipoff2: ) -
Wheelbase -
Overall tire width (and/or WMS) -

It's time to put up or shut up! :D

An NO Brent, you can't use your rear steer!!! :)

Humm, on second thought that would be interesting to hear.. :D
