Is the backlash suppose to be EXACTLY the same all the way around the ring Gear? Or can the backlash vary just as long as it is within the range.

This is a Ford 9" and I am getting AT most 11 and at least 7 and its not like the 11 and 7 are on opposite ends.



Then how tight do the lash adjusters need to be? As tight as i can get them?

what kind of gears are you running? Genuine junk? Not much you can do about inconsistant backlash.

Maximum Backlash Variation Between Teath: .003
Backlash : .008-.012

the gears are from a junk yard but there is a tag on the Pumpkin where they had been replaced so who knows.... I figured that was better than stock so they are less than 20 years old....

well i figure .004 ain't bad i'll mess with it a bit more and then i'll run it... just as long as the detroit don't get gernaded i'll be cool with it

It might help to spin the ring gear 180* on the detroit
