Well, whatcha think??
Lars915 04-26-2008, 05:54 AM I always loved those trucks. I had a 78 Chief S many years ago, I still regret getting rid of it :bawling:
Looks great!
dmntxn77 04-26-2008, 11:12 AM Yeah, they are unique rigs... I love them!!
Angler1979 04-26-2008, 11:15 AM looks good!
dmntxn77 04-27-2008, 01:50 AM thanks
jpfrk2001 04-27-2008, 07:08 PM Awsome!!
My first rig was a 76 Cherokee Chief (Levi edition). But I was stupid and destroyed the poor thing beyond repair(Learning days)
But that does look trick. I like it!
jstandle 04-27-2008, 08:29 PM nice, love the way you did the b-pillar in the cage.
dmntxn77 04-27-2008, 09:35 PM nice, love the way you did the b-pillar in the cage.
Yeah, I like the way it turned out too. I was actually done out of necessity. I originally wanted it to be a diamond shape so that passengers could pass through to the back more eaisly. However, due to some poor initial measurments, the front seats were pressed too far forward with that design. We played with a couple other ideas, but this one proved to serve the best for both strength and access.
Jeep74j20 04-30-2008, 10:05 AM That thing is sweet! FSJ are awsome rigs! Make me miss my old Chief.:(
paulkeith 04-30-2008, 10:13 AM i'd roll it. cage looks stout as hell.

they will probably be mean...they jumped all over me when i asked about my compass
apexjeepinjoe 04-30-2008, 12:50 PM Nice looking rig. I just got rid of my 73 wagoneer about 5 months ago.
dmntxn77 04-30-2008, 01:19 PM they will probably be mean...they jumped all over me when i asked about my compass
Are you comparing this to your Compass?
jpfrk2001 04-30-2008, 01:50 PM Are you comparing this to your Compass?
Lets not allow this thread to go in that direction. Even though I do have a whitty comment to Johnny's reply, I won't go there.
Anyways, More pics and details of the Beast please. More UPDATES for a Badass FSJ!!!!
charlieboyd65 04-30-2008, 01:55 PM I had never given much though to it, but it looks like the DRW axles work out well with the backspacing of the H1 wheels. This interests me, because it seems you can get both the axles and wheels at discounts (as compared to other bead locked wheels and SRW Dana 60s). Sweet rig!

Good point..
I will have updates soon as I build my 203/205 doubler...

Yes, you are right, the measurements do work out well. That was my exact intent when I got the axles. I wanted to save $$ on the axles, and DRW axles are the cheapest way to go. Along with that comes the added bennefit of being able to get the cheapest beadlocks on the market (H1's). Plus, the front and rear hubs are both protected pretty good compared to a DRW front and non-spaced rear..
RATHEFSJMAN 05-01-2008, 04:03 PM so they kicked me of ifsja.org so my build is not documented but its getting close to getting done i just wish i had help at times so it still looks great
dmntxn77 05-01-2008, 08:04 PM so they kicked me of ifsja.org so my build is not documented but its getting close to getting done i just wish i had help at times so it still looks great
When and why did you get kicked off there?
dmntxn77 05-05-2008, 10:17 PM No more real progress. I have been busy working out the details of my future transfer case. So far, I cant decide on exacty what I want to do. I am currently considering:
Atlas II
Klune-V & 205
203/205
203/Low Max 205
Or, about a half dozen other options..
Anyway, even though the Chief is not really trail ready, I was able to get some poser shots today..

dmntxn77 05-08-2008, 09:46 PM Well, no 203/205 for me...
I just worked out a deal for a Klune-V :grinpimp:
So, its gonna be Klune/205.. 1:1, 2:1, 2.7:1, & 5.4:1 :flipoff2:
JohnnyJ 05-09-2008, 11:46 AM That looks great.
Did you build the bumper? If not, where did it come from? Looks very nice.
dmntxn77 05-10-2008, 04:15 PM That looks great.

I designed the bumper and had it built by a fabricator commissioned by BJ's Off-Road in Gig Harbor, WA.
BJ's is going to sale the bumper through their store. It is planned to replace their Cliffhanger style front bumper.

tacoma73 05-10-2008, 06:16 PM That's pretty much what I wanted to do to mine... too many trucks and too little space though. :( Looks great!!

 I should really read what I posted. I have a CJ2A and that's what I meant to copy it for, my bad! Wish I had a FSJ!
dmntxn77 05-12-2008, 08:28 PM Well, no 203/205 for me...
I just worked out a deal for a Klune-V :grinpimp:

Scratch that... I am not getting the Klune anymore...
dmntxn77 06-03-2008, 11:33 PM Update reversal to the update reversal....
I DID end up buying the Klune after all... The price got a LITTLE bit more tempting, but mostly, I am getting in a hurry. The summer is offically here, and until I get this thing put together, I cant wheel...
I also found some good 63" cheby springs for the rear, and have all the brackets that I need to stiffen the aft part of the frame and inboard the springs under it...
Now, I just need to get the th400 to Klune adapter, and a 32 spline input figure 8 pattern np205...
nice rig dude ..........likey...................
IslanderOffRoad 06-05-2008, 10:15 AM Nice!
Makes me miss my 83 Cherokee WT Laredo.
dmntxn77 06-29-2008, 10:43 PM Still not much real progress..
However, the Klune did arrive, and I scored a rebuilt 32spline np205 off ebay, which arrived a couple days ago.
I still havent grabbed the rear springs yet, and I still need to order the tranny/Klune adapter. I sure am getting tired of handing out $500 bills though...
There is one new thing though. I did some horse trading, and ended up with enough $$ to swap the 38.5" TSL/SX's for some 42" Iroc's..
When I picked them up I was pissed because they looked like pizza cutters, and I HATE that look. However, the sure did grow with a little air..

trkklr77 06-29-2008, 10:58 PM hey! i have a pic of that truck in my comp, ill post it.....
very nice setup dude.
dmntxn77 06-29-2008, 11:32 PM
Ha ha... I really had some people going with that one... I took that pic right after I got it home, and sold the wheels and tires off of it. I strapped it down so that it couldnt fall since I had to leave it that way for a few days. It looked so funny I HAD to take a pic, and ask "Its ok to tow like this right?"
Thats funny shit that you saved it...
tacoma73 06-30-2008, 01:00 AM so.. uhmmm
you need to get rid of those TSL's? I need some. :D
jpfrk2001 06-30-2008, 05:26 AM That chief is going to be a Monster when done:eek:
Ask me how I know. . . Bad ass FSJ. I love em
dmntxn77 06-30-2008, 01:50 PM so.. uhmmm
you need to get rid of those TSL's? I need some. :D
Nope, they are already gone... I traded them for a brand new set of 36" SX's and some wheels for my DD/tow rig J20.
Yeah, I know the pic sucks..

2xtremz 06-30-2008, 10:04 PM hey! i have a pic of that truck in my comp, ill post it.....
very nice setup dude.
I saw this pic and busted out laughing.:laughing: Not at you, at me...
I towed my (WISSOTA) Super Stock to the track one night just like this, jack stands and all. When I pulled into the pits, I got a lot of "WTF looks", and "I think you forgot something" comments.:eek: Pretty funny stuff.
We'd spent the week rebuilding the car after a bad crash, and had another driver was delivering new tires and wheels to me at the track.
Back to the subject at hand, NICE RIDE! I've been eyeballing one of these that's in the neighborhood. I like the direction you're headed with yours. Keep up the good work and keep us posted.
Johnny Quest 07-14-2011, 11:45 PM any update on this?? i pretty much have your Jeeps twin:
