Does anyone know if a 21 spline case from a manual will bolt up and work on a 21 spline auto?

Year? Engine? to start off with. You also have to think about which side drop. It most likely will, but we gotta know the info on the rig

1990 cherokee 4.0 (not the HO) auto. Drop is on the drivers side.

:shaking::shaking: OK, to add on to what jeeperanthony was saying, MORE INFO:flipoff2::flipoff2: you might also want to mention what t-case your talking about. IF by chance your asking about a np 231. Then Yes the NP 231 with a 21 spline count out of a manuel tranny will bolt up to a 21 spline auto tranny . Now that being said when i did it, the manuel tranny i had was an AX-5 out of a 1986 and the auto being an AW-4 out of a 1989. I dont really know about the other trannies Jeep/Dodge used in the 90's

Mine did. I have an '88 auto, and bought a Tera 4 to 1 that came out of a 4 banger Wrangler, both 21 spline. It bolted right up and it's been in there and used hard for many years.

The case I have in my 90 right now is a 242 but if I can find a 231 for a good price then I want to swap it in. I also have the AW-4

I had an 88 with an aw-4 and a 242 t-case. I pulled the transfer case out (after breaking the case) and put in the 231 out of my 86 that had a manuel tranny in it.
