i don't know much about lone start jeeps, just that they are a big club.

here's a new place only about 45 minutes from north austin (in Rockdale). I've never been there, but will probably check it out w/in the next couple weeks.

the rockdale park is small and looks to be all mud. waste of time for most.
boulder creek has grown in well and cline ranch trying to start up and grow some more.
satan's playground is becoming one of the big contenders.
also long ranch is a pretty fun cheap trip.

There are some neat places if you are willing to drive around. Long Ranch has plenty of trails for a full days wheeling, and its only $20. Havent been to Katemcy in about 4 years but from what I remember it was all granite boulders. Calrocs had a few comps out there that were pretty entertaining to watch and after it was over they had trails rides. Trees Ranch has some pretty gnarly stuff and lots of trails. Carnage happens. The YO Ranch was really similar but its closed to wheeling from what I have heard. TireTrax place is all mud. boo. Also a new ranch is opening up for wheelers outside a Llano, Stillwater Ranch. I havent been there but it looks promising.

Hey AZ Jeep, I just moved out to San Antonio, from Glendale/Phoenix/Scottsdale AZ. Sure miss Arizona, but like the slower pace of Texas. Shoot me a PM if/when your heading this way, we can watch and route for the Suns with all the Spurs fans :D

Yeah, we are. Family oriented but still quite active. Most of our club events are in East Texas and Oklahoma, but we get down south occasionally too. We have lots of informal runs by members too. We try to welcome the newbie in a stock rig as well as the experienced folks in trail only rigs, so no matter your rig level or experience, we have something for everyone.

Clayton, OK and Katemcy Rocks are the two best places in and around TX for some world class wheeling in my opinion. There are quite a few other good places in Texas with more tame terrain.

Trees Ranch down in South Texas is always worth a visit, its got a pretty good collection of hardcore trails...and there is always Lucifer for those who want a shot at the bounty.

We've got a small group headed out to Long Ranch outside of Llano this weekend. Not sure if the date is on his website, but he's letting us come out regardless, $20/rig. If anyone wants more info, give me a call at the shop, 512-462-1881.

There are some good obstacles for a full day of wheeling, and he's on the Llano River so a little dip in the middle of the day is always nice, so bring yer swimmin' hole trunks! :D

I heard Katemcy Rocks is closing in about month. :(

I made it out to Boulder Creek for the first time today. I took the wife & kids along, and we all had a great time. There was some water/mud here & there due to recent rains, but It was mostly dry and rocky. Some very decent and scenic trails out there. I really enjoyed it, and can't wait to go back. Nice facilities & camping areas with power, water, showers, etc. Also had very nice management and staff. The trails could stand to be marked a little better. The map was fairly nice, but it wasn't great as far as guidance goes (there were a lot of trails not on the map, and it was difficult to figure out exactly where you were at times. This could be fixed very easily by better signage).

There were quite a few rigs out there, and we met several nice people while there. My 2001 TJ made it through everything I chose to tackle. We found some pretty good obstacles to play on. The only carnage for the day was a big 'ol dent in a nerf bar (which, yes, I am ashamed to say I have on my Jeep...but hey, it saved the body from taking the hit. I'm working on getting some money together for armor.). Also, we got into one pretty rough section where I had a tire start leaking (35 x 12.50 BFG Mud Terrains). I think I got a little rock or some debris in between the rim and tire bead. The rim wasn't bent, and it would only leak every once and a while as the tire rotated. One hiss each rotation. haha. It wouldn't ever seal itself back up like I hoped, so I found a flat spot on up the trail, popped the spare on, and kept on going. I'll take it to the tire shop on Monday and get them to break it down & see what is in there.

Anyway, Boulder Creek was a good trip, and my family had a blast. We'll definitely be going back. We didn't have time to make it all over the ranch. But in the short time we were there, we found some cool obstacles and really liked it.

Boulder Creek's website is:

We went out to Adventure Falls Adventure Park again last weekend (formerly called Boulder Creek). We were much less lost this time, though their map and trail markings could still use some improvement. Still an awesome place though. Great trails, facilities, and staff! Just my Son and I made the trip this time. We had an absolute blast all day long! We did lots of level 4 trails, and what we could on level 5's (after heavy rains). Great place to go if any of you get a chance to get out here! :)

It is Wet N' Wild in the 1st, 3rd & 4th pics. And it lived up to both of them. It was after heavy rains. Was very muddy & wet. Lots of submerged obstacles. Ledges were all bigger than I remembered last time I went. That first pic was the entry. The water after that point came up to the hood. I wish I would have had someone with me to take some better pics along the trail. I didn't get many pics of the more severe sections. I was a little too busy, and my 10 year old was either too amazed to take pics, or was saying "let me out...now. I'm not going up that...I'll spot you". lol.

The last pic...the ledge, was actually somewhere on Snoopy I think....or maybe Midnight Run. It wasn't on Wet N' Wild. The ones on WnW were all worse than that. I can't remember exactly what trail it was on. I've only been out there twice. And that ledge has grown a lot. I went up it last time, and it was smaller. There was a couple feet of water in the pit below too.

Yeah....that ledge wasn't too bad. There were some worse ones before it. That was almost the end of the trail. It must have been worse at some time though, cause I saw where a bypass had been cut around it. It was a little worse than it looks in the picture, but it wasn't too bad. How my tire wedged that rock against the wall and spun it up on top of my tire...I dont know. lol. It was crazy. There were some big rocks underwater there too (water was deeper than it looks in the pic too..a couple feet behind where the Jeep is sitting, it drops off). I smashed a rear shock tube on one backing up trying to throw that rock off the top of my tire. lol
