: Rear disc emg/park brake possibility...

I've read about the alternatives for having a good park brake with rear discs and it seems the alternatives are all very expensive and marginal at best.
I don't want to spend big money for something that barely works or siezes up at the mention of water!

The fabbing of the actual brackets to get the rear discs was fairly easy...and the Monte calipers cheap...what do you think about another set of calipers on the rear discs (Yes...thats 4 total!) with separate hydraulic actuation of the second set off a parking brake lever?
(Would just one additional caliper work for this purpose, instead of two???)

The emg/park calipers would have NO connection to the service braking system calipers. A totally separate system.

Thoughts?

I just use the same system with a ball valve switch to hold the pressure and have never had a problem with it for almost 3 years.

I have a set off justina's (fordfreakchick) rear 93 12 bolt amigo axle I am going to use on a 69 fj40. I have to have the rotors inner hole turned out to fit over the axle so it will be hub centric. but it also has the e-brake built into the caliper like an eldo caliper. I still have to run the rotors to the machine shop to have the centers turned. then I will make my own brackets. I have a donor axle housing and shafts I am using for the mock up. slow going though. I stuck it on the back burner.

Interesting...
I wonder are they a better setup than the Eldo's?
Ball valve or linelock is fine...but won't pass inspection for road registration.
MUST have an independant emergency brake.

They couldn't be worse, that's for sure.

If you buy the parts new, it is expensive. I remember justina having a fit over the price of them. But if you can come by the parts. it is going to be worth it. I will go to the machine shop monday since my kids live near it.
