i saw this on tv yesterday but i didn't catch a name and i can't find anything online. it was used like a sanding wheel for your grinder, but it had what looked like a dense pack of fingers, or bristles... maybe some kind of plastic or rubber...
does this sound familiar to anyone?
no it wasn't a wire wheel. the bristles come out the bottom like a scrub brush. not from the edge of wheel.

Welcome to Shop & Tools I made a post about them a month or so ago :flipoff2:

I have used them now and they work good but are costly. For the money of 1 I can get ~20 of the coarse 3M fiber discs which IMHO last longer (20).

Interesting. I've fallen in love with flap discs and the cup style knotted wirewheels. For $25 I think I'll stick to them. That's 5 flap wheels at retail pricing and they last a long time.

Aren't those for removing gaskets? My marina mechanic buddies use the crap out of those, work great for that. The right grit flap disc will do what you need if your careful though.

I use these for removing gaskets, paint, grease, and rust. They work great, they also work well on aluminum.

i use flap sanding disks now, but they seem to either gum up or wear out to quickly. i assume the bristle disk lasts much longer and doesn't gum as easily.
maybe they don't last long enough to justify the extra cost though....

Flap discs gum up... they work best for removing metal not shit on the metal. What are you using it for I can suggest an alternative to a flap disc.

If you are removing oil, scale, etc. the black "Clean And Strip Discs" work AWESOME! Way better than fiber discs, flapper discs, and bristle discs for removing scale on steel, and oil too. They are not to costly either.
