I have been trying to find some places to go, but most are cookie cutter camp grounds, Im looking to get lost somewhere on some dirt roads, trails, etc... Any Suggestions? I'm also finding it hard to find sites and literature dedicated to the East Coast Exploration.

Willing to Drive to VT, RI, PA, Upstate NY.

I'm located in NJ and have just gotten into wheelin' and expedition. I made the move from tuning trb'd audi's when my stage 3+ A4 was stolen. Im looking to copy over a ton of turbo tech and mappings from the audi forums I lived on for 6 years.

Maybe PA, or head north, like Maine-type north...

Western MA and NH have some good wheeling spots that a lot of local clubs are trying to maintain and keep open to the public. It's a tough job because a lot of good trails have been closed from overuse and a lot of damage has been done due to illegal wheeling. NEA4WD is an association of those clubs (EC4WDA is another), so check out their website and find a club that looks good to you, join up, help support the cause.

Wheeling is pretty weak in the northeast. There's Rausch Creek and some coal land in Eastern PA, and private club rides way the fawk up in New England that I'm not sure are worth the trip from NJ. Other than that, break out the gas card and prepare to travel. Far.

i'd pull up the map for the maine forest rally and poke around up there.




most of the land in VT is private (part of why i left), if you wanna get real lost go up past montreal, there are some great areas to check out.

There is next-to-nowhere to wheel in NY. Anything worth while is closed and anything open is a 1 mile dirt road.

the northeast isn't the greatest wheeling but if you are in upstate new york drop me a line and we'll show you a decent time at least.

I'm working on getting some trails cut on private land with lotsa rocks. There are also lotsa dirt roads and trails, but if you want the good stuff you've gotta go privately owned land.

My family belongs to a hunting club with thousands of acres, that helps. Also having the family own several hundred acres, as well as friends with several hundred acres helps.

Don't say there is nowhere to wheel :grinpimp:

We're just a bunch of losers that have gone from crappy rigs to rigless to finally starting to get our shit together, but for the most part we like to have fun.

Unfortunately it has pretty much been me going out by myself lately, as just about everyone else's junk is down right now for upgrades/buildups/repairs

You also might want to check out the finger lakes region. I went down to a place called Beaver Dams NY to a huge junkyard in the middle of fricken nowhere to pick up a front yota axle, and it looked like there was some awesome wheeling around there

Central PA has some acreage where you can find some solitude... look at the state forests.

NH's White Mountains are awesome for scenery, but can be crowded with tourists at times. Winter camping up there i rarely see anyone.

Maine's North Woods... i never get tired of it. Lots of area to camp and fish a secluded lake, run the old logging roads, visit Baxter SP, the Allagash Wilderness Waterway is a good place for a canoe or Kayak based trip.

Being from NJ your gonna have to take a drive...
