There is no such thing as a Scout I do you mean a Scout II or a scout 80 or 800?

It says Scout I on the badge and is the older version of a Scout II for sure...maybe they just call it a SCOUT...not sure but its the round version like 68 or so...smaller then the II, but had a V-8 and not sure if it was stock as I thought the older versions used a 4 banger but got my interest in this scout....

Yup that sounds like a scout 800. They only came with a 266 or 304 v8 not a 345. The 345 will swap in very easily. I'm a scout II guy, I'm sure on of the early Scout Guys will drop in and help out

1-3 see the binder bulletin
4: Stick--probably a t-19 narrow ( I believe that the wides were only from trucks or maybe Scout II's)
Auto- I dunno, but I don't think that the 800 got 727's
t-case: Dana 20
5) Front axle: D27
Rear: probably a two piece axle D44 because it was probably a v-8 version. Should be centered.
6) Binder bulletin..don't know the address..sorry,

Tranny if a manual will be a three speed, or optional 4 speed, T18 w/4:1 first. Granny trannies are very rare.

Where in Chandler are you? I live up the street in Tempe, and work in Chandler.
I have both a Scout II, and a '70 Scout 800. There was no Scout I, so I don't know what the badge you are reading is... if it was something someone basdardized from a Scout II, and put on there, or what. Of the early design, it is the 800s that have the V8s. Mine has a 304V8, and a three speed manual tranny. The 304 I believe was the most common, but you could find a 345, or a 266. The three speed is supposed to be an easy swap for the t-18. Rear on an 800 with a V8 can be a Dana44, but the front is most likely a D27. If the tranny is an auto, it will be the Borg/Warner auto, not the 727, unless someone has swapped it. The B/W tranny is a pretty stout unit.

Your the first person I've ever seen with this opinion of the BW unit. It's weak as hell when compared to a 727 and weighs a freaking ton being a Cast Iron case!

big diffrence. we thought he was asking about a scout I, but in truth he was asking about a scout he liked.
however, I belive if he enrolls in this (http://www.ed.gov/offices/OVAE/AdultEd/adultbe.html) , or a similar (perferably non government) program, he can avoid this sort of mistake in the future.
