I have 40'' on d44 and I did ok but I would upgrade if you plan on doing anything more than parking lot crawlin. Cromo shafts would be a great upgrade but pricey.

I wouldn't use to much throttle. If you start to hop, it will break. Be careful and you should be fine. After you upgrade the shafts you will be alot better off.

any benefit of going to 8 lug outers also how much hassle have 6 lug now and 14 bolt in the rear

fiure out how much you are going to spend on shafts and joints, then remewber how much a d60 is.

37 will be ok with an auto trans, 465 and youre going to break something, soon.

He may have a 14SF in the rear now.....of course the op did not specify.

As already mentioned......know what you're running and be careful with the throttle... pay special attention to where the tire is.....straight on or cranked (L) or (R).

if you leave those axles open and do mud youll be fine if you dont have a high horsepower engine.

I ran 42s on H1s for a while on a front ten bolt (same as the d44). Just be prepaired to replace shafts, use the spicer solid ujoints. AND STAY OFF THE GAS!!! You have to get out of the gas as soon as it starts to hop. Otherwise you will snap one. If you have to back up while going down an obstacle, you will break a shaft. If you havent spent any money yet on the 44 I would sell it and get a 60. The cold hard truth is no matter what you do to a 44 it wont be strong enough to wheel on with a fullsize.

sorry 14 bolt ff and thanks for the input i will probably just run it for now and try to be easy on it until i can afford a 60 and the reason for not putting 40 s is because i already have 37 s

8 lug is weaker than the 6 lug set up.

why is the 8 lug set up weaker than the six lug? i have a d44 with HD outers so what makes the 6 lug stronger????? small bearing, small spindle on the 6 lug compared to my axle??????????

A guy in our local club runs 39's on his chromo 44's under a 4.3 powered Zuk buggy, and still breaks shafts, so I'd say with the extra weight of the K-10 and a healthy power plant spend the coin on a 60 and be done with it. The 44 can survive if you're easy on it, but if you get on it at all, you'll be much further ahead to bite the bullet and upgrade now.

I was just down at the shad pad the other day my truck did great but as you said nothing to challenging. I was kind of proud though my truck is tall enough and heavy enough to ford the river from south to north and back.

I went straight across right there where you enter onto the island and onto the other side just make sure you point slightly upstream cause it floated me a little bit.
