I just built everything last week, and have only made one bend so far but it works quite well. I cant wait for my next cage job so I can really test it out. It is a bit slow, but not painfully so. One nice thing is that theres a catch on the push button to hold it down if you're gonna be running the ram all the way out. I think I had to re-pin 3 or 4 times for a 180* bend, so I just turned it on and walked away for a couple minutes on each push. My main reason for doing it was to save space in the shop. Having the manual setup is really limiting on where you can put things in the shop so they dont get in the way of the handle swing, tube swing, etc. Hydro enables the whole thing to be on casters and be used anywhere.

The Ram is about $75 from Harbor Freight, and I built everything outta scrap I had around.

Have you seen my tube bending videos (http://www.4x4blog.com/jd2-model-3-air-over-hydro-tube-bender-videos/)?

Same thing.

widmayer123- Why did you go through all that effort? It barely pivots on the back... and it comes with a spot for a pin already in the back of the ram.. ?? Seems like a LOT of extra work for something that just needs some plate steel a pin or a bolt and some grinding on the edge/corner to have it clearance when rotating.

See this pic:
http://www.4x4blog.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/gusset.jpg
That rounded corner top and bottom was all that was needed to let it pivot a little. :)

That's the same reason I built this, and put it on casters. Now I can slide it out of the way and slide it out to use it. Works awesome! Having EVERYTHING on casters is awesome too.. push them all over to the corner and pull out to use space sacver!
