DOUG38S 05-02-2008, 08:03 PM I'm gonna try and make it for a day.
intheworks 05-05-2008, 09:29 PM DAMN! this event is right around the corner. i need to get my new transmission quick! my t-case mounts where a little low. so it was putting stress on the top 2 bolt holes of the 700r4. ended up cracking the housing where the rear main seal is. ended up running the trans dry till smoke was coming out the dipstick. oh well, atleast the buggy lasted till sunday before it gave me problems not too bad for a shakedown run. im going to go with a TCI sizzler th350 with some bells & wistles.
TUI76 05-06-2008, 07:23 PM yeah, I know what you mean. I decided to make some major changes to my rig before the spring fling. I should get it done in time, my brother is helping me with it!
Decided the window frame must go and a full cage is going in. Locker in the front since I have to replace the cv-shaft in the D35 anyway, and adjustable links and control arms so I can re-center the diffs. Man, I can't wait for tons! Baby steps! Back yard/Driveway build baby! :D

smewhtguy 05-08-2008, 04:13 AM Can't wait the three day events are more fun.
Preppi12 05-19-2008, 10:13 AM Time is ticking down. What's on everyones "to-do" list before you're ready to go?
Mine...
-limiting straps on the front
-abs pump removal
-trans flush
-looks like a mc swap on the tow rig as well.
smewhtguy 05-23-2008, 05:10 AM As of last night I now have to rebuild a motor my turbo spiked at 19 pounds so this week the turbo is coming off I will be ordering a header and a set of regular 22re pistons and throwing the turbo in the trash, hope to be ready.
Preppi12 05-26-2008, 09:22 PM Only one weekend left! I've still got a couple things left to do. What about everyone else?
intheworks 05-26-2008, 10:30 PM i finally have enough money saved up for my new transmission so tomorrow im shipping out my AA th350 ouput shaft out of my old 700r4, to this guy in flordia (twisted transmissions) hopefully ill be ready for the spring fling.
sb406 05-27-2008, 01:36 PM I'm planning to be there.
As long as I don't grenade anything too major, I'm planning to run Rausch Creek for the entire week following Big Dogs.
rokspydr 06-01-2008, 02:02 PM I will be there the NJJC crew
slipscomb 06-01-2008, 03:05 PM I'm going to be there. Just need to hammer out my roof pan to re-install it and wire a toggle switch for the ignition. Finishing up a friends Jeep for their Anniversary trip. Planning on pulling in Thursday afternoon.

Nice rig to man.
TUI76 06-04-2008, 10:10 AM looks like today the rain is going to turn it into a mudhole and then 88+ degree weather to dry things up for the remainder of the weekend! SWEET!

TUI76 06-09-2008, 07:58 AM to those who did not show up because of "Rain"... SUCKS TO BE YOU!! :flipoff2:
I had a great time. Post your pics and let us know how you did!
Aside from a few mangled parts, and some new character to the remaining body panels, the Kumfy Krawler proved yet again to be a capable machine. U-turn hard, Death Valley, WaaHoo, Corum, and Cobra were a nice challenge, but I never needed a winch, high lift, or wrench out there! Awesome! Heres some pics!
Kumfy Krawler, my brothers CJ5, and Mike Grissom's CJ7 on Corum, day 2.

A new sticker compliments of Rose Crawlers! Oh and my busted windshield. I tried to spear my brother.

My brothers got wedged and broke a driveshaft on Corum, so Doug pulled the Kumfy Krawler up to pull him out. :)

I still need to get the pics from my brothers camera so I'll post more later.
On another note, I had a group of guys checking out my jeep at the field party. I had all my tools in the back so I decided to walk over just to make sure everything was on the up and up. They turned out to have been some guys that where there for the Grand Slam and had known about my ZJ from my posts on this forum. I offered to take them on a trail ride the next day but they never showed up the next day. Too bad, it was a great ride! Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to those guys for all the nice things they had to say about my ZJ, and there is MORE TO COME!!! :stirthepot:
Malibu 06-10-2008, 06:23 AM The Spring Fling was great. Saw the Clayton guys run Insanity and it was the most unreal stuff I had ever seen in person. Worth the price of admission just for that. The dual steer rig was not of this earth. Anyway, the group I was with made an observation. The guys that are out there with their normal rigs(not $40-50K rigs) are really cool and great to talk with. We tried to speak to a couple of the higher priced rigs folks and the two we tried to engage were less than friendly. Did we just get a few bad eggs or once you get like Stan or Stu (whatever his name is) do you turn into a #$%&? Other than that, John is great. Our guides Matt and Cal are super cool too. Highly recommend Big Dogs if you can make it. Thanks John.
chris demartini 06-10-2008, 07:38 AM You cannot possibly mean Stan with the yellow and black tiger striped YJ on 47s? He's probably one of the nicest guy's you'll ever wheel with.
dan58 06-10-2008, 08:22 AM You cannot possibly mean Stan with the yellow and black tiger striped YJ on 47s? He's probably one of the nicest guy's you'll ever wheel with.
No kidding. Big Stan is one of the nicest guys I've met in this hobby.
1TonS-10 06-10-2008, 08:23 AM I stopped to talk to him multiple times this weekend and i only have a 25,000$ rig :| Stan is the man, nice as hell and will give you the shirt off his back. There isnt anyone ive found with these so called "High priced" rigs that wont take a minute to chat, especially if your willing to stroke there ego about there rig.
if anything its the jeep guy's that piss us off. I broke down up near insanity due to a hydro line going up into my motor mount and my boy jack started the hike for help since the guy with us never stopped (He had his reason, no gas to come back) and jack made it from where we were to just before the camp reg building and a dude from new york drives by and he slows up and jack asks if he can get a ride back to camp 6... the guy keeps on going stating he's busy.... What the fuck is that shit? Then the day before we had a guy run out of gas and johnny managed to hop a ride with a cherrokee and the dude was like well, this is as far as im going, good luck..... You dont do that shit to anyone in 100+ heat. I personaly will unload my trailer to pull a dude out, i will unhook my shit and take someone back to there camp if there stranded.. that shit is why some people dont talk to certain people out here.
bleh im done ranting.

684FRO 06-10-2008, 09:20 AM yeah , stan is a cool guy, but , no he prob is not going to get excited to talk to you if your first words are " Man i just took my rig through trickle, it was so Extreme" :grinpimp: you must be thinkin bout someone else !
hillbillykrawler 06-10-2008, 12:06 PM hey fro, didnt you break a axle on something that should of been on trickle?
684FRO 06-10-2008, 12:45 PM oh, and here you go. . . . hillbilly . .. :flipoff2:
67Sporttop 06-10-2008, 06:45 PM Yeah FRO...I heard that your old rig made it further than your new one, with a new driver???
PRICELESS!
slipscomb 06-10-2008, 07:46 PM I had a great time! Spent most of the day on Saturday rescuing a broke Jeep from Friday over near Death Valley then went to the beach but managed to knock the computer out on the Scout up on the Overlook Sat. evening. Spent the night up there and got the truck recovered Sunday morning after everyone woke up. Looks like a new wiring harness and computer are going into the Scout! Then on Sunday on the way out some local kid was speeding around the corner on the back road and ran in the ditch when he swerved to miss my truck and trailer. He followed me to the Gore store and threatened to "kill me" as he put it. He threatened me and my friend and his wife and daughter and tried to run us down out in front of the Gore store. He hit my friend and rolled him over the hood of his car as I grabbed his shirt through the drivers window but he escaped and drove away. What a finish to an otherwise great trip! Can't wait till September!
Sean

I saw the scout in the field saturday night. What did attempt to go on a night run after you unstacked it? And if you slept in the scout...I bet you were eatin to shit with all the bugs up there that weekend.
Sucks about the kid being an ass. There always has to be a couple in the group unfortunatly.
:mad3:
engnmonkey 06-13-2008, 01:38 PM Was the kid driving a cherokee?
