I am moving my 56" rear springs to the front of my 78 K1500 and adding 63" rear springs, I know this will help with flex, but also, will removing any leafs, besides the over loads help? Will any lift be added to the truck by swapping springs? Any help is appreciated. I know, noob question, flame on!!:flipoff2:

you will get a bit more flex out of taking a few leafs out. but your also going to lose height. i used 4inch superlift springs up front on a SFA s10 i built and the springs were pretty stuff up front and hardly flexed. i took the bottom two out, gained some flex but also lowered the truck 1 3/4inches too.

but if your springs are pretty straight to begin with im not sure if youll have the same kinda height loss

a longer shackle at an angle of around 20-35* will allow huge droop, give a good ride, and work the springs less.

the problem with a long shackle at an angle is the extra leverage placed on the steering components allowing the axle to move side to side in the vehicle when you have crossover steering. I used a panhard bar to keep my stuff steering on the street, and still had the ability to max out the travel on a 14 inch shock with 57 inch chevy springs. You will have to get really creative with driveshafts too. I was running 1350 joints with no cv and had to grind teh shit out of things to fit the front driveshaft. Had to put a limiting strap on the right side too. only used about 13 inches of droop before the driveshaft disconnected, so I limited droop to 12 inches.

have fun with it.
