I have a first gen TPI out of a ZCamaro. It uses speed density rather than mass airflow(after market harness). I have larger injectors and a larger throttle body. The problem I am having is when cold it starts great, but when warm I have to floor it to start. Once started it runs fine. Wheeling season is here and so im trying to fix the problem. Thanks for any help.

Is there any DTCs stored? Sounds like its running rich. Black smoke on startup?

There is no stored fault. But yes it is flooding on start up. Thats way I have to give it full throttle to start.

Check ECT temp TPS voltage or o2 sensor.

I will do that thanks. Now that you mention O2, I think the O2 sencor was loose when I put the truck up for the winter.

it's probably a temp sensor that is bad causing it to read like it's -40 degrees outside. the computer will flood the engine with gas in those conditions.

Thats makes a ton of sense. Thanks

ya know something else you might want to look at is leaking injectors. When the vehicle is shut off warm it leaks in raw fuel causing it to flood. When you let it cool down you give it enough time to clear the flooding, therefore starting easily. Just a thought.

That would suck I just installed larger injectors last spring.

I had this exact problem and for the life of me could not find it till one day I noticed the heat riser was stuck on my exhaust manifold. It was making the intake so hot it would boil the gas and flood. Opened it up and all was well. HTH.
