So while sitting in the garage last night, trying to calm down and take my mind off of life for a while I was pondering the mysteries of the universe and the cruiser...among other things.

Will I need to offset the V8 if I am running an SM465 and a NP205? Anyone know??

Thanks!

my brain hurts, I can't take my more thinking today. :D

Get one of the Advance Adaptors conversion catalogs for cruisers. It talks about engine placement & has lots of good info other than just showing what parts they have to sell.

If I recall correctly, the v8 gets offset to the drivers side by about 1.5 inches or something like that. It's been a while since I did mine.

I centered mine with the same drivetrain.
i think the offset is needed when running the stock steering combo....

Glad to hear the wife is home.

Do you have anyone taking care of mini Glo while you work?????

You betcha, her mom doesn't work, so she is over at my place hanging out and taking care of the kid. :D Thank god for friends and relatives. No way I would trust anyone else with my 4 week old son.

Don't listen too much to what you read in the AA catalog or hear from them over the phone about engine placement. I am planning on running a 205 in my current project truck and was going to center it on the pinion of the rear that I am running. Example, from what I can see a rear like a 44 from a Scout II has a centered pinion but I am running a EB 9" and the pinion looks like it's offset a bit.

I think that Nolen had trouble with this when he built up his truck.

What say you Grogan?

Keep it centered, it is not enough of a problem.

Driveline angles are OK as long as the total angle up down and sideways is not more than 30*
