How much tubing is in that cage (feet)? I'm chomping at the bit to start on a cage for my truck, and trying to get a feel for how much material I'm looking at...

Sweet cage, btw. Is there some place with good blow by blow construction tips:question:

I used 6 sticks of 1'3/4 tube, off wich i waisted approx. 1.5 stick of learining how to bend and notch.

Some tips? Well i learned the hard way that if you make a double main hoop you have to put all the little spreader bars in before you weld the bottom plates in or otherwise they won't fit in anymore!! Yeah I know, I'm stupid :rasta: :flipoff2:

Another thing is try and keep all your bends on the same axis, this is much easier to bend IMO.

And one last thing if you are using a drill pres and hole saw to notch tube do not try to notch at a different angle than 90° because it will bend the shaft on your drill press, als don't notch without the center drill 'caus this will also bend the shaft on your drill press.

did you wled up the hoops and intall them into the truck before adding the connections between hoops (other than the spreaders on the double hoop) or did you build the whole thing before bolting it in?

I only have one (double) hoop, no hoop in the front and back but "legs" connected with spreader bars. (the pic will make it clearer)

I welded up the main hoop and tack welded it to the truck and started building the rest of my cage from that.

this may be a stoopid question, but can you remove it? I have a friend that can get the cage powder coated for me for free (SCORE!) at his pop's shop, so I was hoping I could build it in the truck and then pop it out to have it finished.....

Yes it can be removed, just tacked it to my fenders so it wouldn't move while i was bending/welding the rest of the cage.
