I snapped the damn rear OEM D300 shaft, Going to rebuild with JB conversions rear HD shaft.

Question: Should I upgrade the front shaft to HD as well? I read a review that said the front is necessary in only the harshest of setups. How true is that?

Running 35" swampers w/ 4.0L & basic intake/exhaust mods.

Also need the $$$ to buy front D30 chromoly axles...

something must of been bad to begin with. I run a d300 behind a 4sp and 4.0 running 42 iroks and have never had trouble with the stock output shaft. and thats bouncing off the rev limiter to :mr-t:

I thought about that too. I've got Tom Woods out the back, but I woulda thought a u-joint woulda failed first. Hmmm.

i'd be more worried about breaking the D30 than the D300, but since you are only on 35's I'd say go for it. I run a flipped D300 on 35's and I have never had any problems.

Yeah for real... X2 Thats what i was going to say. But once i read all of the posts he beat me to it. I would think that if you put in chromoly shafts and that hd front output, you would make something else a weak link. You know that ring and pinion is super small!
