The students in your class did a hell of a job on that rig. :smokin:

Ditto. That thing turned out really well.
boogerp 05-07-2008, 10:29 AM Very nice looking rig. Any issues with it on the trail???
xjemily 05-07-2008, 11:36 AM nice job that thing came along way
Stumpalump 05-07-2008, 11:58 AM Wow I read the thread a ways back and glad you updated us. You said you had a lot of weird noises right after the first trail runs. What all did you end up tweeking to get it right?
MuddyPaws 05-07-2008, 07:46 PM Problems with the Xj...well, the side mirrors aren't the break away ones....should have swapped the mirrors from the 92 I had. That will come soon.
I broke a few teeth off the front ring gear...got a e-mail in to the place I bought it from. There is no reason for this failure. I think I got a shit set.
Lots of things came loose and had to be snugged back up but didn't cause and real problems. That was the cause of many of the noises.
The left rear shock hits the bump stop brace. I'll have to grind that a bit.
A magnetic mount CB antenna has no place on a Jeep.:shaking:
No major issues found really. Everything seems to work well.
Jeepernick 05-07-2008, 07:51 PM wow sounds like a XJ :D
looks good, I really like how it turned out.

COVEJEEPSXJ 05-08-2008, 07:31 AM Looks really nice!! Good Work.
The only thing I could comment on is, I would think about adding some additional bracing on your rock slider tubes.

Good to see it all finished.
Missing some teeth on the ring gear would qualify as a major issue for me:flipoff2: Hopefully the shop makes it right.
I wish there were more shop teachers like you and Matt Peters (shopteach) around. Your students did a great job:grinpimp:

We actually had those plans, and had the parts cut for it, but somehow forgot to weld them in. Then we had to get ready for 3 different local PR things that we wanted the Jeep at so we just spray painted them and went with it. Then the wheelin trip on the second and then the evening of the arts PR show right after that on the 8th. We just ran out of time.
They are coming back off this week to get the added bracing and then sand blasting and then they will be powdercoated the same color as the rims.
JeepFreak21 05-10-2008, 11:23 AM Sweet! Did any of the students get to wheel it? Or even go on the shakedown run?

Yes, had one old student on this run. Pretty expensive trip for them to make though. 3 days on the island. Many of them have been driving it around the back of the school over dirt piles and small rocks learning how to run it.
As soon as I can get the money to fix the front gears we are going to take it out on a Saturday to the local wheelin spot for the day and they can play in the sand with it.
