I have checked a few places and the price I have been getting is about $1650. and this is for the obII set up with computer and all needed parts and a manual bell housing. What have you paid and do you want the obI or obII and what did you do about the wiring?
Thanks Kevin

Wrecked Trackers/Sidekick seem the way to go. Mine was $500 and naturally that comes with all the parts you'd want for the swapover. OBD I is the most common, not sure what year they switched over, someone else here will know though. Talk to Brent @ Trail Tough, he seems to be the 16V guru. Basically you're looking at $700 (which includes reworking your Tracker wiring harness) after you come up with the necessary Tracker items, thats why my 16V is sitting on the garage floor instead of under the hood.

Hey thanks I called Brent and it is strange how things come back around. I met and towed Brent out of the con 4-6 years ago with my last EB ( great tow trucks) and ended up building him a gas can rack for his sammy. After that he got his own bender and started from their to were he is today. Nice guy and he can do a full set up for me if I chose to go with him for a round $1900. and this is ready to drop in and start up. All motor parts ans elect parts to run the OBDII set up. This would include every thing from fan back to fuel pump and all inbetween.

I paid 1500 for obdI setup. Included everything. Had Brent modify my harness, so its about what you are quoted.

I paid 950, but that was for an 8V. I looked for a used/wrecked 16 valve hard to come by here in oregon. Oh yeah and the 950 was for motor and labor, but I also had to buy the install kit and fuel pump.

DEMOMIKE,
Same here! Paid $400. for a totalled 1996 Tracker.
Couldn't afford (or justify) the $400. so I started doing it myself, got sick of doing it & not 100% sure that I did it right so,.....there it sits in my shed with the fuel pump, adapter plate, powersteering parts, etc.

I got a "totaled" 16v '95 Tracker for $250. I called the guy about getting it towed to my house and he said "I'll drive it over'. Turns out it basically needs a front fender and tail light to be untotaled. I WAS gonna put this engine in my $200 '90 Samurai, gonna build it up for the wife instead.

Yeah, I drove mine home too. The a-pillar was way to whacked to save the car though (Good for me, too bad for you:D )

Wyld Bill, Thanks for the comment, I thought about trying the wiring myself, but haven't for the same reasons you mentioned. Hey, maybe Brent will read this and drop the price a little ;)
