this deal was going on around Christmas time.. It's a sweet deal for sure, i bought metric and standard sets and gave away a couple of sets too. I love them so far and haven't had any trouble

The non stubby ones look like they have the lever to reverse the action. The ones I got around Christmas do not have this feature. I kind of wish it did. FWIW my wrenches are great and have come in real handy.
FYI - these sets from Sears are NOT top quality sets like they used to be. I'd guess about half of mine have sloppy retaining rings and I can move the hex inset piece in and out by hand. One of mine literally fell apart the first time I used them, right out of the package.
Just a warning. They are nice to have, but they are not the quality I would have liked.

I bought the std and metric in flex head last time the deal came up. I am considering adding the reversing ones now.

Does Sears warranty or where do you take them to get replaced?

When the first one fell apart - I took it back to Sears and they went in the back and brought me out another one... so it looks like Sears is warrantying these just like their other tools: on the spot.
Still, I highly suggest you stop by Sears before you buy these and put your hands on them and check on the issues I mentioned.

It is my understanding that the Gear Wrench brand is made in Taiwan. The Craftsman ratcheting wrenches are made in the USA.
I haven't bought any yet, but have inspected both the Craftsman and Gear Wrench versions in the store. The Craftsman appear to be much better quality. They are also much more expensive.
If I ever buy some, I'll buy the Craftsman ones.

The craftsman ones do not catch as quick as the gearwrench ones do. Go try each before you buy them. It definitely makes a difference in a tight spot.

$30? Says $50...
Anyways, I have a Metric set. They are nice for the occasional hard-to-reach bolt. I would highly reccommend using a standard wrench to break the bolt/nut loose, and then use the Gearwrench to finish the job.

Sometime within the past hour or so it changed from $49.99 on sale less another $20 ($29.99) to just $49.99.

I got the standard, metric and the standard stubby and metric stubby for <130 total. Can't beat that price for the time saving and convenience :)
