Ben W 10-08-2001, 02:00 PM The wind sucked. Please make sure it is calm and about 70 degrees next year. Thanks.
AIRZUKI 10-08-2001, 03:01 PM Thanks a lot Tom for organizing such a great event ( and thanks to all those who helped you too ) I had a great time ( despite the sand blasting... ) and I thought you held it together pretty well even with the " saturday night festivities...." I'm looking forward to next year ( and I'll even have a truck ready to compete.... probably )
BeaconBasher 10-08-2001, 06:31 PM Hey Tom this is a thanks from Sunset! Thanks for keeping it going two years in a row and working your ass off in short notice! Next year could use a few changes. talk to the competitors for feedback! Anyways good job and keep the jeep off of the pavement would ya, and dont call us when you need another bridge built Oh yeah lay off the combination of alcohol and public speaking!
BIGBIRD 10-08-2001, 06:33 PM thanks tom. what are the chances to have it a bit earlier in the year?? awesome eveni ill be back next year.
toyman2 10-08-2001, 08:14 PM this was the first time the blue mtn wheelers went up and we had a great time. i think he got some wheels grindin in thought
could have done with out the sand blast job
i talk to some of you but i didnt no who you were or id have done some introducing
Blazerman1 10-08-2001, 09:23 PM Thanks for putting such a great event, I had a blast. I can't wait to do it again next year. Every thing seemed to be alot smoother this year exept for the judges, need some major work there. It was one hell of a good day of wheelin, wish I could do that every weekend.
Any chances of having more than one event next year? Maybe one in the spring and one in the fall. Could even have one in the middle of the summer, that would beGREAT

FYRMAN 10-08-2001, 09:46 PM HAHA!! That is the one comment that stuck in my mind since I heard it. Nobody asks where you are from anymore. The first question they ask is "Which internet BBS do you belong to?"
I saw alot of people from my own hometown that I had not seen in ages. Saw alot of people from here that I recognised (or thier rigs anyway). Saw alot of people from all over, and never realized how far reaching the internet could really be.
"So? What's your screen name?" lol
Josh 89XJ 10-09-2001, 12:19 AM On a more trivial level...
FOOD! Get some people selling food next year. I was fawkin' starving and the only thing around was water and energy drinks.
Parking. Not a huge deal since nearly everyone had 4x4s, but the people who showed up in cars were having lots of problems with the soft sand. Maybe set aside some of that hard-pack area when you first come in as "2WD only" Yeah, I know but lots of people were stuck and I overheard that complaint more than a few times throughout the day.
The website. One word...update. No offense intended, but it could have used some more info. You guys were more than helpful when I e-mailed you some questions, but I'm sure many people had the same questions and having some specifics on your site wouldn't hurt.
Having it a little earlier in the year might not be a bad idea in hopes of avoiding weather problems.
All in all it was a killer event and I am definitely going back next year. You guys did an awesome job and really made my weekend Hope the constructive criticism helps.
tom@nwrca 10-09-2001, 06:31 AM Josh i agree with most of the things you said and all the complants from the event
as to food at the event 4Wparts gave away 15,000 waters and hotdogs but I agree we needed more food vendor
parking and the road in billy the land owner spent $25K on the new roads this year and plus what are the guys in the honda cars thinking it is a rock crawl not a football game, as to the web site I am only on guy I totally agree with the web site needing to be updated constantly but it is hard when you arent getting the info from the other hand if you all Know what i mean. as to events next year I agree earlier! it was to late in the year this year but we had no choice with the late start we had.Iam planning to have more then one event next year NO PROMISES!it a crap load of work but thats my plan I will be asking for alot of help from the snort boy and the sunset boys <-- my old club--Again guys all i can say is I did the best with what i had I will try today better next year
Tom
tom@nwrca 10-09-2001, 06:33 AM WOW I need some coffee I can type this early!

HighHooder 10-09-2001, 07:47 AM I think that the Greenies stole the power meter, an act of echo-terrorism. I mean hell, it got stolen right in the middle of announcing the finalists

Tankota 10-09-2001, 10:33 AM Glad to see you required the drivers to wear HELMETS.
Saved a number of people (including Tim Lund from ARB) from having some serious injuries.
crash 10-09-2001, 12:47 PM YA, Tim took a hard smackola on the nogen..
Happy to see him walk away from it, and was really cool to see a few faces I have not seen in some time.
Tankota 10-09-2001, 12:55 PM I guess when Tim went to the hospital the doctor started lecturing him on how samurais are easy rollover vehicles according to consumer rippoffs (er I mean consumer reports)...that must have been pretty amusing
BeaconBasher 10-09-2001, 02:39 PM all of us in sunset would be glad to help you out with anything tom...incliding placing the gates..lol
