I just mentioned the itmes I wanted and left the rest up to them. I really dig how it's turning out. The seats are being replaced with Beards.

Skyetone 09-12-2001, 08:15 PM needs rear suports and the stringer on the foot welded in. Maybee a big X on the top? Simple is good and cheep but get it done right.
Sloan 09-12-2001, 08:28 PM It isn't even close to done. there will be door x's, seats mounted into the cage, x behind the seats, dash bar with grab bar, cross bar in the top and a 5 bar aluminum roof panels. Trust me it'll be done right, can you say Fat City?
James K 09-12-2001, 09:22 PM Looking good and taking shape nicely. It is obvious that it isn't done (skyetone)
Looking good Sloan. As soon a Eric gets done flip that thing in the parking lot to see if it works
Sloan 09-13-2001, 01:37 PM Here's a before pic. I had to reinstall the soft top hoops for the install of the new cage.

Jeepskickass 09-13-2001, 01:37 PM Tell those fawkers to stay the hell out of the bar, and it'll get done a lot faster! 4 hour liquid lunches tend to cut down on the amount of work getting done!
Sloan 09-13-2001, 01:45 PM The Bronco is getting wrapped up right now and as soon as that goes to powdercoat it's all me. The problem also is that BEard didn't have the seats that I wanted so there was another 2 week delay.

Jaffer 09-15-2001, 07:32 AM Consider a pair of spread, bent down top stringers.
This design has several advantages ...
More head room and tubing further away from above the head.
The spread design triangulates the top square frame adding strength.
The peaks in the middle of the stringers add strenght to the top on full roll over.
Plus the peaks help a bikini or full soft top tension much better ... and again adding to head space.
Just food for thought ...

Sloan 09-15-2001, 10:58 AM There will be drops/supports right where the stock roll cage bolted in. The hold up right now is the seats are being made. These are photos of the very beginning of this project.
4BANGERYJ 09-15-2001, 03:38 PM Looking good. I wish I had a tubing bender I need a full cage.
Lance 09-15-2001, 05:08 PM You took it to Fat City? Those guys can't build cages!
Can't wait to see the final result.

It's not tubing it's PVC that has been painted to look like tubing. Much cheaper
busdrivah 09-19-2001, 01:11 PM It's probably pretty light too. LOL

Don't think we met but let me know when you are coming down again and i'll cruz over to meet ya and drink some brew. Going to the shop now to check progress on bronco. Called eric last noght and he said he finally got all the suspention crap done on the bronco. Should just be finish welding and some minor details before powdercoat.
Dingo 09-20-2001, 08:26 PM Sloan, how are FATCITY's prices? You don't have to give $$$ amounts if you don't want to (I know some people are sensitive about that), but do you think they are pretty reasonable or pretty expensive???
thanks.
Sloan 09-21-2001, 06:03 AM IMHO they are really reasonable. After I saw a rig they had built the cost wasn't an issue.
