I guess nobody did anything this weekend.

I spent the better part of the weekend in hazy So-cal. Laughed at some 909'ers. Went to a wedding. Spent Sunday with mom #2.

I built a picnic table. :D

http://www.tmcom.com/~tsm1/gallery2/d/46975-2/DCP_0382.JPG

Replace some leaf springs on the racer.

http://www.tmcom.com/~tsm1/gallery2/d/46947-1/DCP_0375.JPG

The short one is the clapped out one I yanked off the racer. After pulling the center pin and removing the C-clamps, it didn't even spring/fan AT ALL.

..and that's the passenger side. The driver's side spring sat FLAT.

Still need to do the rear.

Messed around trying to get a gooseneck hitch into my Travelette.

http://www.tmcom.com/~tsm1/gallery2/d/46952-2/DCP_0383.JPG

It's a little wide (came off a late Ford).. I think I'm going to redrill the center and narrow it up.

Spent the latter part of my Saturday :mad3: after getting a letter from the County again. Not long after I moved in they hit me with a "junk vehicle violation" and I thought we sorted everything out.. I went and licensed everything and it suddenly became "non-junk". I even put "permanent" plates on all 'em so they couldn't bother me in a year.

Then last year they changed the law, such that "Permanent registration doesn't count".. but I can pay $35 a pop and suddenly it isn't junk again. :mad3:

Funny thing is, two days after they did their investigation (and before I had been notified or even knew there was a complaint), I started everything up and moved it around because I was tired of looking at it.. left everything in this state:

http://www.tmcom.com/~tsm1/gallery2/d/46963-1/DCP_0377.JPG

Lucky for the enforcement guy, I had 1.5 days to consider cooling off, and he was nice to me when I spoke with him this morning.

I'm going to move the blue body tub behind my shed out of sight, and the only other concern is the 74 pickup sans front clip, which is also pretty much hidden from *PUBLIC* view.. which he has a better understanding of, after I told him he was on PRIVATE PROPERTY when he took the pictures (of roughly the same view, but before I re-arranged), since I own all of that road that goes by my house (including the ditch on the far side, behind where I was taking the picture from), and half of the other road (off to my left). You have to see my stuff from the highway (public road, well off to the right) before you can claim it's junk.

In any case, I'll move the tub (on a trailer) and put it behind the shop and case closed.

Ironically, my trail Scout is the ugliest POS in the pile, but it's not junk (it runs) while the pretty blue replacement tub *IS* considered junk since it doesn't run (but looks much better).

Just more maintenance. This is my post copied from another board.......
"So I'm outside doing some maintenance on my rig in the driveway today. I have one coilover shock that won't hold a nitrogen charge so I thought I would take the remote reservoir apart and lube the seals to maybe get it to seal up.......I took the snap ring off to get it apart but it won't budge so I figure just a little air pressure will push it apart(this is where the banjos start playing :homer:). Well I guess a little air pressure is alot in these things cuz all of the sudden BOOM!!!!! and it's apart with parts and shock oil EVERYWHERE. One piece landed in the middle of the road and nearly hit a car. Shock oil now covers about the rear half of the rig which is freshly painted and cleaner than it has been in years.
Moral to the story......Don't do what I did. ":shaking:

Saturday: Spent the day shopping at IKEA and Home Crapo...

Sunday: Installed (too my suprise without issues) most of the junk I bought on Saturday. Including a new vanity/med cabinet that could house an ER's worth of bathroom shit...

Sunday also saw a maaaajor dent in the gay-rahge organizing. This afternoon/evening should see enough of a dent that I am going to be pulling the shit-box into the thing...

Something will happen I am sure...

BTDT, sorta.

I had to rebuild my SAWs. I knew to bleed off the N2 before tearing it apart, but after mostly getting it all apart, I was having a hard time getting the end cap out of the remote reservoir.. "Hey, why I don't just put a little compressed air in there to help push it out.."

I didn't shoot it across the shop, but it did make a big bang when it came out, and I immediately realized the mistake I'd just made. :D

Good thing it was just 100psi of compressed air, not a 200psi shot of N2..

Yeah mine was just compressed air too but the O ring was stuck so it took a charge before it came apart.....I'm just glad it didn't hit me in the face when it came apart. I mean that thing really blew!:(

I knew before I did it, but I'll repeat it for anyone else watching... remove the valve core, and grab onto the valve stem with some pliers and pull it out.

The valve core still in makes a vacuum behind the divider, which makes it hard to pull out - PLUS the O-ring sticking a bit.

Remove the core, and it goes much easier.. or be lazy, like Binder and me, and risk shooting yourself in the face with a reservoir end. :D

Friday I stayed up till 3:30 am working on a friend's buggy so he could go wheeling the next day. Somehow he broka a connection and lost the ground to the left bank of injectors, plus the IAC valve. No wonder it chugged like a tractor. Saturday cleaned house and had dinner with family before feeling sick. Sunday I didn't feel well so I fucked off all day.

Feed Binderbounds dog while he was away -- man it was nice to have Dish and a big flat screen for the weekend, and boy is your bed comfy, what kind of sheets does the lil' lady buy?? :flipoff2::flipoff2: Just kidding.... I didn't actually feed the dog, I made my wife do it, I just drove. :D

Between the whole 15 minutes I wrapped up in feeding the dog I managed to work on my house and yard.

And HOS it is "Hells Depot" - Don't bitch until you go there everyday on your lunch break for 3 months. My wallet is so fat from 2 foot long Home Depot receipts it hurts...

Almost finished with install, still have more welds on bottom and need to reinstall the rocker panels, sand the crappy paint, and trim the rear fender.

Next in line is the rear bumper extensions, and internal rollbar.:flipoff2:

Had Friday off, so the whole family headed to the mountains for drive. Had a blast. Drove from hwy 88 to 50 via Pipi valley.

Sat. worked on Matt's Scout. Did a little fender trimming. No hack job, we cut and folded a new lip on the inside, and welded everything up, come out looking good. We did both sides of the tire, pic only show rear side being cut.

Sunday, BBQ

Monday, I trimmed my front fender. Just took out about 1 1/4 on the rear side.

Yeah, thanks again. I'm sure he would have survived the weekend not eating, but I'm glad your wife fed him.

I thought the bed smelled like drywall dust and siding grit. . .

Finally did some work on the Scout for the next weekends trip to Seymour Off Road Park.

Blew up a rag joint in my 800A the last time at Disney, OK so decided to install a U-Joint finally. Came up with something pretty good just don't know if I should knock out the shear pins and let the shaft float so that the column and steering box don't get bound when the body flexes.

Using a Saginaw box on the inside of the frame 4cyl original now with Chebby.

Ideas?

Cut wood, hurt my back, bought a new Husky 20hp lawnmower :smokin:, new swamp cooler, BBQ'd, looked at the Scout then decided against injuring my back more.

O yeah broke my thumb with a hammer replacing my axe handle.

Tom build a fence to hide your junk. Or plant a row of bushes and trees:grinpimp:

:D Every time I'm about ready to build a fence (or a bigger shop to just park inside of), someone feels the urge to turn me in, and I suddenly feel the urge to make them stare at my junk for another couple of years in punishment. Sometimes I even go on the offensive, and call it an excuse to drag another three or four Scouts home and park 'em in my field just for spite.

Most of it isn't junk. I really did start nearly all of 'em up and drive around the yard a few laps before re-arranging right after the inspector came through. I just don't need to drive 'em every day so they sit.. a lot..

I do have a spot fenced off for the pieces n' parts to hang out in.. (where you'll find the 60s, 70s, a few 44s, ..) the tub hadn't made it in there since it was dropped off a while ago. Unloading it in the middle of the field was convenient. ;)

Myself, Chad, Darren and our other buddy Mike performed a one day SOA+R/S on Mikes Scout II on Saturday. I've yet to download pics from the camera as I'm still tired from that one day wrench-a-thon.

It's not hard to fold a lip. I guess better make a post on fender trimming 401.

I moved...WTF's with everyone moving?? I moved to Wilsonville OR and an apartment. I have never lived in an apartment and it's okay at best. I do have 900+ square feet to fill up. I have no furniture, so right now it's 900 sqft of NOTHING, but damn easy to vacuum. New job is working out great, but the fuel bill for an 80 mile daily commute was killing me. So I moved and now it's a 60 mile commute. Not so bad but still a pain in the ass. I can't wait to actually get back to working on something IH related.:shaking::shaking:

Uh, is the apt. cheaper than where you lived before? What's your mpg? I don't quite understand why you moved somewhere that's still not close to your destination.

Uh, is the apt. cheaper than where you lived before? What's your mpg? I don't quite understand why you moved somewhere that's still not close to your destination.

It works out in the end trust me. The problem wasn't the milage, it was getting out of town and buring fuel sitting at stop lights. On top of that I had a 1 hour commute, now I have a 30 min commute. When you work a 10 hour shift spending at best 2 hours on the road and 8 hours sleeping really cuts down on the time I got to spend at home. I have more time, less time in the Scout commuting and end up saving almost 100 bucks a month just on fuel. Let alone getting more time for me. Besides it was time to move on. I liked where I live, but I need to get out on my own.

One more thing I didn't want to live in Salem. I like Wilsonville, everything is close. I can walk or ride my bike to just about any place I need to go. The police coverage is great and my complex has a 24 hour gym. Since I am trying to get healthy, it was a big plus. For the price nothing closer was cheaper and offered all that.
