Just wondering if anyone has any inside info on the new 6-liter PSD?
Would you buy the present 7.3-liter PSD or wait for new 6-liter? The 6-liter will have a 5-spd AT as an option.
Comparison Specs:
7.3-liter Power Stroke, 525lb-ft torque @ 1600 rpm, 250hp @ 2600 rpm
6-liter Power stroke, 550lb-ft torque @ 2000 rpm, 325 hp @ 3300 rpm
I personally don't like diesels or Fords, so it's kind of a no-brainer for me. :D BUT, is this 6.0 a definite go for 2003? Or, will you be waiting until '04 or '05?

Umm the 7.3PSD is rated at 525 ft-lbs and 275 hp with a 6-speed and 505 ft-lbs and 250 hp with an auto. and yes the 6.0 is a go for 2003

i also think the 6.0 is supposed to be alot more fuel eficient,i would wait for them to be out for a while before i buy one...
I am liking the 5 speed auto.
If your itchen to buy wait for the dudes "that have to have the latest and greatest" to trade in there perfectly good 7.3L.......because they won't be dealin on the new PSD for awhile.

I don't know anything about the 6.0, but the numbers don't really impress me much. It all is about the state of tune. In the end, there is no substitute for cubic engines in "similar" designs. You should be able to pump up the 7.3 more than the 6.0 if you want to. The power curve in the 6.0 is kinda high isn't it (peak torque at 3,300 rpm in a diesel  ). But 550 ft-lbs and 325 hp is enough for most any use, and if the 6.0 isn't pumped up so much to make it unrealiable, then it ought to be good.

The 6.0L will be in the 2003.5's as they will be coming out in around November. Sounds like it will be a pretty cool engine. But I would not like the idea of getting a new engine that has not been proven like the 7.3L has. That is what I still don't like about the Duramax. The HP and Torque are at higher RPMs which also does not seem great for a diesel. If you want to get some more info on this new engine check out www.ford-diesel.com. They have a whole forum for this new powertrain.

ill take a 7.3 if i have to get a ford :D
the 6.0 is just tuned a lot closer to its maximum, if you do the same amount of tuning to the 7.3 as ford is to the 6.0 to get good power from it, you woud have ludicrus power! it is also going to be a bitch for people like Banks to make tuning kits for it cause there wont be much tuning left to do.

I would wait a while on the new motor and let the bugs get worked out/see if will last. (but what do I know?)
and i just bought the 7.3 for the simple reason that it's an 8 year old design and it's proven to work!
and if guy's are holding the motor's together with propane and fat turbo's putting 1040ft lbs on the ground then i think it'll be just fine with my exhaust, intake and 125hp chip :D
BTW a 2k2 auto also has the 275hp 525tq rating ;)
