I amaze myself more and more on how stupid i am, :rasta:

Plans for today were to X brace the main hoop in my cage,
first problem, I used an angle finder but can't figure out how to read the thing, so anyone can help me (after your done laughing with me)

So after i have drawn the angle i needed on paper and measured with my old angle finder from school i finally could notch the X brace, next problem is the length and the notching seem to be exact but i can't get the X brace in the hoop, what have i done wrong?? Have i positioned the brace wrong?? Or what is it??

Help out the most stooooooooopid member on this BB, Thanks :rasta:

Some pics of the X brace, the bottom notch fits perfectly, the top one seems ok, but i can't fit it inside the hoop.

unless I'm missing something...looks like you will have to lift the rollbar...remove the plate that mounts to the wheelwell...slide the x-brace in and tac it in place...reweld the mounting plate and be done with it...the other option would be to shorten the x-over on the lower side...it should be fine if you just move it up a little...:smokin:

what I'd do?

option 1 (easiest)

cut off one side of the notch so it'll slide in then fill the gap and grind to satisfaction.

option2 (coolness factor)

litterally make an "X" make it a 4 piece X that welds together on center. It'll take a lot of fitting unless everything is exactly 45*
It's up to you but notches don't have to be perfect. cheating is allowed :D

In short, the points of your notches are longer than your opening. Notta gonna worka. Trim off one point to flush and fill-weld that once in place. Ideally, you'd have installed the x-brace prior to the foot plates.

My buddy does lot of cages....never final welds until he's completely done, just in case. Much easier to grind out 1-2 spot/tack welds than the whole deal.

Remember, admitting your stupidity is only the first step....I've never been to step two either, so don't feel bad.
