I would like to start this thread as a Reference Guide and a listing of Resources for those in the North East who are interested in Trail Running and Expedition.

I live in Hoboken NJ, work in NYC, and Moab is not a long weekend option. Expedition is new to me, and this new Expedition forum has given me a kick in @rse to get my Jeep ready, and go. I am looking to plan a trip around late August, early September with goals of Canada, or Maine Area, with as many dirt roads as possible.

I will be posting my findings here as I go as well as reference guides.

Please feel free to post past trips, routes, pictures, and clubs.

Here is what I have so far:

Its a bit of a touchy subject in VT so I woulnt get into the exact resources to use on a public website, but do a little research into vermont class 4 and "legal trail" roads, they are sometimes reffered to as "ancient roads". With a little effort it is possible to go from southern VT all the way to canada with little to no paved road contact. VT has 6K miles of paved road and 8K of unpaved, gravel, and legal trail.

Another very interested Northen NJ resident (Morris County)!! The closer to home the better. Nothing wrong with short one day trail rides, or overnight trips so I'd like to see a focus a little closer to home, like Northern NJ, Southern NY and Eastern PA. There are actually a decent amount of unpaved roads through state land in Northen NJ - and not just in the WMAs - just not sure how legal they are...
