i have a dodge 727 in a waggy. (yes its a dodge). i am having serious issues with getting power to the wheels. it acts like it is slipping but it ran great before, then the next day, shit. i would blame the band being toasted, but its not just forward, reverse is the same situation.
i doubt the coincidence of both going out at the same moment. you think this could just be a horribly clogged filter, or valve body? i would go outside and look, but the last time i did wrenching in my apartment complex i got yelled at by the lease lady (beeotch).
also, it has a broke motor mount and some redneck engineered shift linkage (i have a cable shifter ready to go in). when it did start to move, the broken motor mount would let everything cock up to one side and put the linkage in a bind.
do yall think that the linkage could have been only slightly engaged and restricted flow to the band?

The 727 is not bad to do. Get you a clean spot to work on it and a breakdown on it. Be sure to put one of the shift improver kits in it while you have it out. The one in the little blue box is the best one to get. It is by Transgo, the NOYOYO kit, easy to follow instructions. It also allows you to check tranny fluid level while in park like a GM after the installation. As he says in his directions, no fuss. Good luck on the rebuild, be sure to set the bands as well.

If you think the linkage is misadjusted, disco the linkage and put it in gear with the manual valve lever. The band has nothing to due with first gear. Front band is for second, rear band is for reverse. Reverse uses the direct pack and the rear band. Firts uses the low roller sprag and the foward clutch. If you have slipping movement in all ranges, sounds like a pressure issue. Take the pan off and take a look at the fluid and debris. I am guessing you dont have a pressure gauge. You could also pull the TV cable tight and see if it helps keep it from slipping
