I need a set of the studs for the steering arm on a flat top knuckle. I called the dealership and since they're hardened or something, they need specs or an example. Plus I bet the dealer is pricey.
Does anyone know where I can get some of these? I want 6 to replace the used ones on the other knuckle and I"m going hi-steer on the other. I want all new ones in case the others I got were abused and could be damaged structurally.
Thanks

Any "Good" chevy dealer should be able to get you the studs/cones/washers for cheap and easy. Its just the studs on the driver side knuckle of any 73-87 truck. Nothing fancy.

Here's a couple of sources off the top of my head that I happend to have the info handy.
1) Bent & Twisted - Mike Ladd (SNOWBALL on PBB) - Chico
(530) 342-3003
studs @ $6.35/ea.
cones @ $2.00/ea.
nuts @ $0.95/ea.
2) Parts Mike - Auburn

He sells individual peices or package deals.
3) Shaker sells them too (search his username on this BB - might

I get them from my local Chevy dealer for abut the same price as Mike Ladd's I can't believe they didn't know what you were talking about, they were used from '65 or earlier all the way to '91, I just always ask for steering arm studs, cones (sometime they call them locks) and nuts, no problemo.

Try ARP, I just got mine for $5.81 a piece. They were back ordered on part #AQ4.10L so, I went the next size. www.arp-bolts.com. Search the general board for arp studs.

Do yourself a favor and call parts mike hes in Cali. like you he can sell you complete stud kits for 20.00 each. The "stover nuts" are a 1 time use only locking nut. Get new ones I would hate to hear that you lost your steering and killed someone because you were "cheap".

The only place I could find them was the dealer as well. If I remember right, they aere prety pricey! Tell the parts guy to bust out the microfiche, you can show him what they are.
