Stopped by some place called "the gun store" or some shit like that. Little tiny place but with maybe 100 or so rifles and 50 handguns.
Overpriced Mosins, overpriced wolf, but a lone tantal sitting on the rack.

How much for the 74?

Its not a AK-47

I know, I said how much for the "74"

$560 plus shipping and background check.

Shipping?

ya, $20 for shipping.

where are you plan on shipping it to?

To here

Its already here.

No, its $20 to cover the shipping to here.

ooooooooo k, How much is your background check?

$3, and you have to be a citizen to buy it.

Huh?

You have to have proof of citizenship to buy it as it is an assualt weapon. You will need a citizenship card or certified copy of your birth certificate.

Well thats a first.

It VA law.

Well is a federal question as well and I have never had to bring a copy of my birth certificate for any of the dozen or so I have purchased since being in this state.

Some people don't follow the rules.

oooooooo k, I don't have my birth cirt "on me" but I have my military ID, copy of orders, my VA CCW and my 03 FFL. Will those work?

Nope.

You all have a good day :shaking:

yeah some mom and pop gun stores are like some mom and pop salvage yards ect.. they decide if they are going to sell you anything or not by the way you look when you walk through the door

Sounds like "Pop", was in a bad mood.
I`ve run into a couple of guys that wanted to charge me for "shipping", also. I told them I didn`t understand why they don`t simply add it to the sticker price, at least then I wouldn`t feel like I was getting ripped off. :p I don`t buy firearms out of my home state, so i haven`t run into the birth certificate issue. I bet you could have bought it with a green card though.

a buddy was denied when he tried to purchase a Sig w/ threaded barrel. He had his VA license and CCW, but that didn't cut it according to the store. they would only accept a passport, birth certificate, etc as proof of citizenship

we then went to a different store and the transaction went through w/ no problems

Is this whole citizenship requirement a vagina state thing? Last I heard a resident alien could buy title 1 firearms, and even NFA items.

Resident Aliens are allowed to purchase firearms, but must have a alien ID card and proof of 90 day residence, like electric bills.

I don't but I could require proof of citizenship.

There is a pawn shop in Dallas located in a 'high minority area' that I have shopped at frequently. On more than one occassion, I have heard customers of ethnic origin being asked if they were citizens when they wanted to look at a firearm. They are then asked if they are a resident alien with the proof of residency...Thats about the time that most of them walk out the door.

Two forms of ID. I've only ever needed a drivers license and recent bank statement, checkbook, paycheck stub or passport. Some shops are just gay like that

Ok, I was curious as to if VA had passed some "citizens only" law regarding eeeeevil assault rifles.

I avoid people who don't seem to know what they're talking about. It makes me suspicious that they'll fuck up some paperwork and the ATF will be knocking on my door about the rifle I bought--since our guns aren't registered or anything. :shaking:

 Won't take a fawking military ID.

Should have said "well hell, I saw that same rifle online for 450 anyway with free shipping." With the economy the way it is, go ahead and be a dick.

I can't stand gun stores that treat non regulars like they don't exist. Yeah, that guy may come in and bullshit with you daily, but I've got $700 to spend and little patience.

On the left in Zuni? Never stopped there. On the right in Wakefield/(IIRC) named the Fishing hole? Had to stop and buy some ammo there once and it was within reason for a M&P shop. Didn't look at the guns. There's a Firearms Co LLC on the left in a tan metal building next to a gas station in Uh, ah shit, can't remember the name of the town now. Never stopped there, but they just recently moved from another building. Wait, that's Ivor! Yeah, they're on the back side of Ivor, towards Pickett.

Not that I know of. Our Illustriot fucktard of a Governor was pushing some typical Dem bullshit after the VT festivities last year though.

Is the proof of citizenship a subjective requirement? I have bought firearms from several shops and gun shows in CO with nothing more than a DL and cash.

Or should I say I have a friend that has bought firearms...:emb::rolleyes:

Mom/Pop shops arent any different than counter clowns at NAPA/Kragens etc. in the auto venue IMO. Iffen theres ANY sign that they dont know what they're talking about I walk, simple as that. Or alternatively iffen I had yakked with them before , I'll wait 'til the person I yakked with is available/ask for them... ;)

was on vacation up in yankee land several years ago...noticed a nice little M&P and went in to look...on the rack was a low serial Colt Ar15 in pristine condition...price tag on the trigger guard says $575...so I ask if I may take it off the rack and inspect it, sure, shes a fine shooter, but really needs a good scope to be accurate--they tell me...everything looks okay, internals etc and bbl is chrome lined, so I decide to buy it...ask if anything comes with it...guy says he will toss in three colt 20rd mags if I pay cash...fine...asks for my drivers license...I hand it to him...he says he can't sell assault rifles to a TX resident(LOL) as they are illegal there. So, I pull out a copy of my FFL and ask if he will transfer it to me...says he has never transferred a gun to another dealer and doesn't know how to do it. I explained it, he called the ATF and was on the phone for at least 20 minutes talking to someone...then after hanging up, said they told him that he cannot sell the gun to me as I am from out of state.
so, while the regular world was selling Colt AR15s for $1500, he had one for $575 and I could nto buy it, so I walked out(laughing and crying at the same time).

if the Sig 220 had not had the threaded barrel, the shop would have sold it to him. instead it qualified as an assault weapon and they wanted more proof of citizenship than he had on him

we wanted to go back and say "neener neener, look at the grand you missed out on" but figured they'd probably call the atf

It's seemed to be a decent place, last time I was in there. It's the most local shop to me.

Then there is one in downtown Suffolk I have yet to visit.

.

Military ID does not show an address, so yeah its not a valid form of ID for the 4473. Plus a military ID does not establish citizenship.

Mil ID and Orders are OK.
