Just wondering if anyone has triangulated their d44? I would like to do this but understand that its a pia because I guess you cant weld to the diff on a cast d44. Correct? I have an idea of building a hoop to go from tube to tube over the diff. Any ideas or pics would be cool. Go ahead, flame on. :flipoff2:

I have heard that when welding to cast you want to warm it up with a torch but NOT till the metal glows. You then want to weld it up, probably mig style, then slowly cool down the housing with the torch again. The cast will accept the weld better if its pretty hot to start with, but, you don't want to crack the cast or warp anything either. This is the way my friend did it when welding on a spring perch to his 44 fronts center section. It worked fine, but I don't know if there are better ways.
You probably are better off in the long run however with a hoop concept though. It will stregnthen the whole housing for one, and probably be easier to set up a 4 link off of.

Run a tube from tube to tube over the diff and tie the diff and tube together with a Avalanche Eng. diff ring. Call Glen at Wicked Works Offroad (located in Littleton) and talk with him about what they have done to the rears of TJ's when doing the tri 4 link. They have a nice set-up and do great work.
