I have had the chance to compete with my Zuk and I run a Calmini 4.16 with some Toys with 5.29's. I have had limit my tire size to 33's to work with the lack of gearing.:) It does work well though.

Fatkid, I read you're planning on doing something different with gearing. Is this something most others will be able to duplicate (like a mixed combination of t-cases) or something that will be for sale? And, do you think many will be interested or is it a real pricey competition thang only? (yes & no answers will do, if you don't wanna tell)

Yį fawkin“ Newbie!!:flipoff2: :D :flipoff2:

Your poll is meaningless without knowing the big picture...

engine / tranny combo
t-case
diffs
tires

There are many ways to combine these factors to achieve a good setup. Just knowing the t-case gears doesn“t tell the story...

Yet Fatkid could still provide a meaningful reply. Lighten up!:D

i don't compete and i don't even own a zuk but i wouls go with the 6to1's. i have driven a couple of built sami's with 5.38's in d44's and 36" swampers. they both had 4to1 cases and it was not enough gear to crawl. now alot of stuff in the comps does not require crawling but if you sit down and start "fingering" out ratios you can get more useable gears with the 6to1. with the 4to1 you could only use 1st and 2nd in off-road situations with 5.38's and 36" tires. chris (psf4x4) just got his 6to1 and if you do the math 3rd gear with the 6to1 is now what 2nd gear was with the 4to1. anyway you will not be too low with a 6to1 case. the sami has 5 speed trannys so there are plenty of gears to choose from.

this being said billj is right. you can't really make calculations unless you know what motor, tranny, and tire size you plan to run. i am just figuring you are using a zuk motor and tranny.

The new gearing should be cool, When it's done I should have a Toyota Turbo tranny with dual Toy cases that will put me into the 244/1 range. Its in the works so Im not sure how much work it will be by the time its done. However I'm pretty sure that it will be the strongest T-case set up out there for a ZUk and it should turn some 37's just right... :)

Fatkid this is the same set up I am putting together for a buggy and a 1.6l 16v engine it should prove to be a bad a$$ bulit proof set up if their is one to be had (for HP and weight).
Good Luck, and nice mods on the new set up!
