i got a 93 s10 blazer with the 4.3 vortec. anyways that big rubber hose that goes from the intake to the plastic thing that goes to the air cleaner box is all messed up. the part where the sensor goes in is splitting really bad and the sensor is falling out.

so two questions. what is the sensor and is it important? and am i able to buy that rubber hose at autozone or anything or is that a junkyard part?

IAT sensor, or intake air temp sensor... important input for the ecu. you can just relocate it to a spot that will not see alot of engine heat, like in the fender well or something.

doesnt it need to be in that hose to work? if not ill just like duct tape the hell out of the thing and call it a day.

no it doesnt need to be in the hose. it just needs to see what the ambient temp is for the air. the best place to put it would be in the intake somewhere before the throttle plate.

ok thanks, i pretty much just threw a zip tie up around the end of the wires incase it peels out it wont fall into the belts
