In '75, 10 bolts were only used in cars. Trucks didn't get rear 10 bolts until 1981. A '75 half ton came with a 12 bolt.

Is it a 3/4 ton or 1/2 ton? 8 lugs or 6?

Cause if its an 8 lug axle, its more than likely an Eaton. They got 10 bolts on the diff cover.

Its a 6 lug half ton. It is a round diff cover and has 10 bolts holdind it to the case. And there are no open holes in the cover ither. :flipoff2: I know how you pirates opperate. LOL

so its not the stock axle.

more than likely, its an 8.5" ten bolt, made from 77-87. these will bolt in a pre 77 truck without modification, and have 28 spline axleshafts.

I don't know the exact rule but in the 1960s Chevy 2wd 1/2 tons were 5 lug and GMC 2wd 1/2 tons were 6 lug in the same years. Hijack off.
