Can you get to Fordyce Lake via Cisco Grove? I have a friend who is broke down up there (came from Committee) and needs help. I was just wondering if I could go in through Cisco for the rescue.

Oh yeah. I called the TNF Office and they said probably not. But my buddy said there is fresh tracks up there where someone came in from Cisco, then turned around and went back.

The word I got is that Rattlesnake Road is officially open and is clear of snow 7 1/2 miles in. I couldn't get definite information on where that is on the road but travel to Fordyce Lake may be possible.

What is the status of your friend? Do we need to see about trying to get someone up there to help out?

On the crossing with 35's question from overgrow530, the best answer is that it all depends. How much runoff there is, how waterproof your rig is and if you know where the holes are to avoid them. My advice and safe answer would be no. Don't try it unless you have experience with the water crossings or are with someone that does. Definitely not a first time sort of thing.

I know this doesn't help out right now but I will be up there this weekend and will have some actual first hand experience to report on next week.

If TheWolf's friend is still up there this coming weekend and you need some help let me know and we'll do what we can to help out. As I said before let us know is something needs to be done sooner than that.

Keep in mind that chance of thunderstorms is the weather prediction for the weekend.

Thanks for the reply Tinman.
He made it out, the road was clear. He broke his trackbar mount off of his axle at the top of Comittee. How the heck he made it in at Eagle Lakes, down the trail, across the river, up WH1, across the river again, and then break his mount on the road by Fordyce Lake,???? I will never know.:D
Some fancy winch work around his axle and minimum steering got him in range for a tow truck.:smokin:

What rig was your friend driving and did he say how the rivers were?

Hey, I drug a guy most of the way out with a broken trackbar once. He just needed help on the uphills. Oh ya, he had broken low range gears in the t-case too! Fun trip.:shaking:

Glad your buddy made it out ok.

I'll post some pics next week after I get back.

Good info on the condition of the committee road. Thanks!

What rig was your friend driving and did he say how the rivers were?

He was in a stretched TJ on 37"s, 5"s of lift. He said he had water coming over his hood on some of the water holes.
I will try to get more trail conditions from him, or have him post them up.

II ran the trail yesterday from Eagle Lake and exited the committee trail. If you are going up this weekend, take a chain saw with you. There are 5 trees down. You can drive over them, but you stand a chance of cutting your sidewall like I did (7 plugs later and a very slow leak I drove it the rest of the way. Coming up to the lake from the trail has about 3 feet of snow on it. Slow and go I was able to crawl out to the lake. The next 3 miles of road from the lake was mostly snow. As long as you stay off the gas, you can stay on top. On my way out, I snapped my tracbar bracket off my axle coming off a steep snow bank sideways  Using my winch rope, I wrapped the tracbar and the bracket to my axle and synched it down until the front suspension was fully compressed and it gave me enough steering to make it out to Cisco and on to a tow truck.

The trail is in great condition. The typical areas that have water on them are still very wet and there are a couple of puddles that swallowed my 37's hole and brought water up over the hood.

The trail had almost no snow on it and the river was extremely low for this time of year.

Thanks for the info!

Chainsaws are already loaded up. We're planning on doing a little prunning.:D

There are a couple of spots I want to look at as far as standing water too.

Thanks for the trail report Robert. Glad you made it out ok.:smokin:

Unless the winds don't calm down we are still set for going in Friday. Looks like the road will be clear by Saturday! Might have to wait for the rest of the crew to help with the tress. They will be coming up Friday Afternoon, with more than one Chain saw:smokin:
