We have a trailer that uses surplus mobile home axles. does anyone know where to get, or what part numbers that cross over for the brake shoes and hardware? I talked with the local Redneck Trailer Supply and called the Dexter Axle parts line, and because they are mobile home axles, they will not sell parts. Please don't lecture on axle application, just need some parts.
thanks-

What size shoe? I'll look and see what I can dig up at work. Last time I looked, the only part you could replace was the magnet. Measure how long the shoe is lengthwise on the curve ) and then measure the width. Was kind of parts are you looking for? what needs replaced?

needing shoes and a spring kit, possibly even the magnets. If I had the extra money right now, I'd go ahead and get regular trailer axles with brakes. I'll try to get some measurements when I get home.
thanks for your help.

Good luck, they can be a bitch to find, the parts. And if they are all worn out, by the time you get done adding it up, compare it to the cost of a new trailer axle. You might not be that far apart, and you could get easier to find replacement parts in the future out of the deal.
As well as getting rid of the "illegal" california/mobile home drum/wheel combination.
