SOLD!!!

I am selling my 12x36 Craftsman/Atlas benchtop lathe 101.27440. It is in great working order I would just like to upgrade at this time. It is operated by a 110V 1/3 hp GE motor that is brand new. The headstock is the more sought after timken bearing style rather than using a babbit poured bearing, which means better accuracy. It is capable of cutting threads via the Quick Change gear box. It comes with a four jaw independent chuck, a 3 jaw self centering chuck, a drive plate, quick change phase II tool post and 5 tool holders, a sodoka bearing live center, a box of 30 brand new carbide cutting tools, 3 drill chucks (one new mounted to a mt2 shaft for the tailstock, one froze up keyless chuck and one froze up chuck that threads to the headstock), and 2 brand new fenner belts. The bed does have a few dings in it but it doesnt seem to effect the operation. Please email me if you have any questions and I will get right back to you.

Asking $950 OBO

I'm not too familiar with lathes, but I want to get one. What are some of the limits on what you can do with this. ie. if you were to machine a steel bushing, what size stock can you fit on this machine?

Thanks for the bump

I am no expert either but I know a little bit. The lathe is the 12" model so the bed sits 6" below the center. This would mean it would fit material just under 12" in diameter. The 4 jaw chuck is 8" with reversable jaws meaning it can grab material almost 8" inside diameter. Let me know if you have any other questions.

The swing means you can machine 12" diameter for facing/boring operations. For machining along the slides you need to consider how high the cross-slide is, so swing over cross slide is a limiting factor.
